Fans who were excited about the possibility of seeing Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role in Stranger Things, play Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently received some discouraging news. A new report suggests he wasn’t actually auditioning for the part, despite a lot of rumors.
Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin may not play Miles Morales’ Spider-Man
The stars of Stranger Things got together in Paris this weekend for a fan event called SFM9, held at the Villepinte Exhibition Center. On Sunday, March 29th, fans had the chance to meet Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Nell Fisher, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Noah Schnapp.
During a recent fan event, McLaughlin politely declined a request to do the Spider-Man hand gesture – something he’s had to do before. This interaction gained attention when a reliable source on X (formerly Twitter) posted that it seems McLaughlin won’t be reprising his role as Miles Morales.
Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role in Stranger Things, recently cleared up rumors about potentially playing Spider-Man. The speculation started when he shared videos of himself practicing gymnastics and martial arts online. Many fans thought this was him secretly trying out for the part of Miles Morales, but McLaughlin explained it was just a personal hobby. He said he’d love to play the character someday, but the training wasn’t an audition – he was just having fun with friends.
McLaughlin has openly expressed his eagerness to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe if Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, offered him a role. He specifically mentioned his strong interest in playing Miles Morales, stating, “If Kevin Feige called… I’m very interested. Miles, Miles. Yeah.”
In another interview, McLaughlin expressed his continued interest in the role of Miles Morales. He jokingly said (according to Variety) that as a New Yorker, he felt a strong connection to the ‘Spider-Verse’ storyline and believed many others would understand why he’d be a good fit.
Although it hasn’t been officially announced, rumors continue to suggest Caleb McLaughlin may be cast as Miles Morales in a Spider-Man project.
