Reacher Season 4’s Perfect 2026 Release Plan Gets Derailed

Season 4 of Alan Ritchson’s Reacher was ideally positioned for release, but a significant event in television is causing a delay. Despite a previous, brief movie attempt starring Tom Cruise, Amazon Prime Video’s series, created by Nick Santora, has been consistently popular. The new season will be based on the novel Gone Tomorrow, and filming wrapped up some time ago, with Alan Ritchson recently finishing post-production.

Although filming for season 4 of Reacher is nearing completion, Amazon Prime Video hasn’t announced a release date yet. Alan Ritchson has confirmed it will arrive sometime this year, which is great news for fans. Considering past releases – seasons 1 and 3 came out in February 2022 and 2025 – might give us a clue. Notably, season 2 premiered in December 2023, and the next season could follow a similar timeline.

Reacher Season 4 Would Have Been The Perfect Christmas 2026 Release

Beyond the main Reacher series, Prime Video also has a spin-off show focusing on Maria Sten’s character, Neagley. Filming for the Neagley show finished earlier than filming for the next season of Reacher. If Prime Video follows the same release pattern, we can expect the Neagley spin-off to premiere before Reacher season 4. This means it could arrive in the next few months, and its story might connect to what happens in the new Reacher season, with Alan Ritchson also involved.

Releasing Reacher season 4 in December 2026 would fit well with current plans. More importantly, a holiday release could greatly boost viewership for the main Reacher series. Because Reacher is already popular, Prime Video has the flexibility to release it at any time and still expect good ratings. However, releasing it during the holidays, when many people have time off, could significantly increase the audience. This approach could make season 4 the most successful season of Reacher yet.

HBO’s Harry Potter Remake’s Release Gives Reacher Season 4 A Worthy Competition

The plan seemed to be on track until HBO revealed the new Harry Potter TV series will premiere on December 25, 2026. Many initially expected a 2027 release, considering filming began on July 14, 2025, and was projected to continue until mid-2026. Given the filming schedule and the significant post-production needed to bring the Wizarding World to life, the first trailer for Harry Potter looks very promising.

Whether or not remaking this popular film series was a good idea is still up for debate. However, it’s almost certain to attract a large audience when it premieres later this year, especially after the excitement generated by the first trailer. It could even challenge Reacher season 4 for viewers—if Prime Video releases it during the popular holiday season. With a long-standing fanbase spanning multiple generations, HBO’s Harry Potter remake has the potential to become the breakout show of the year.
