Housemarque has confirmed that their new game, Saros, a fast-paced, third-person shooter with rogue-lite elements, is finished and ready for release. They’ve also made it clear this isn’t an April Fool’s joke, offering fans peace of mind.
Development of the main game is finished, and the team is probably putting the finishing touches on a launch patch. We’re not sure yet what that patch will include, but the game, called Saros, has looked fantastic over the last few months. We’ve also gotten a better look at the characters joining Soltari enforcer Arjun Devraj on his journey to Carcosa, and the growing sense of fear they’ll experience along the way.
The game’s core gameplay is similar to Returnal, but with some unique additions. You play as Arjun, who uses a special shield to absorb blue energy bullets, rewarding a more proactive and aggressive playstyle. Absorbing these bullets charges your powerful weapon for huge damage. However, when the Eclipse happens, you’ll face corrupted projectiles that actually lower your maximum health, adding a new challenge.
I’m already hooked on this game! It’s got this really satisfying loop where you keep getting better and unlocking things – there’s even a perk that lets you get a second chance, which is awesome. It’s called Saros and comes out on April 30th for PS5. If you want to learn everything about it, check out their feature. Or, if you’re curious, you can watch someone play through the first area, Shattered Rise, right here!
