A new trailer has been released for “Twenty Twenty Six,” the sequel to “Twenty Twelve,” giving fans a first look at Hugh Bonneville reprising his role as Ian Fletcher. The show is set to premiere in just one week.
Just like “Twenty Twelve” and “W1A” before it, the new show – following Ian as he joins the team overseeing the football World Cup in Miami – is narrated by David Tennant.
In the trailer, Tennant says it’s ‘the biggest sporting event in the world.’ He describes football as unpredictable, emphasizing that ‘it’s never over until it’s over’ and that success comes from focusing on ‘one game at a time.’
The trailer shows Ian (Bonneville) reconnecting with Will Humphries (Skinner) and awkwardly attempting a Zoom call with David Beckham. We also see him hiding in a bathroom and being asked if the situation is much worse than initially believed.
“I mean, at least we know where we are now, so that’s all good,” comes his response.

The new comedy, created, written, and directed by John Morton, promises the biggest football tournament yet, according to its description.
With the USA, Canada, and Mexico as hosts, 48 nations competing, and games spread across 16 locations throughout North America, the event presented a huge logistical challenge – and plenty of potential for things to go wrong.
Ian Fletcher is starting a new job as Director of Integrity for the Twenty Twenty Six Oversight Team in Miami, where he’ll be responsible for ensuring everything runs ethically.

I’m really excited to see some new faces joining the cast this season! Along with Bonneville and Skinner, we’ve got Nick Blood, Chelsey Crisp, Paulo Costanzo, Stephen Kunken, Jimena Larraguivel, Alexis Michalik, Belinda Stewart-Wilson, Marli Siu, Nicole Sadie Sawyerr, Joe Hewetson, and the fantastic Erin Kellyman. It’s a great group, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the show.
I’m so excited! “Twenty Twenty Six” is kicking off on Wednesday, April 8th, at 10pm on BBC Two. And the best part? All the episodes will be on iPlayer super early, starting at 6am that same day!
