The latest episodes of Daredevil: Born Again delivered a double dose of action for Marvel fans. Episodes 2 and 3, titled “Shoot the Moon” and “The Scales & the Sword,” showed Matt Murdock (Daredevil) and Karen Page, along with their allies, intensifying their fight against Mayor Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). However, Fisk retaliated fiercely, almost defeating Matt and Karen and cleverly framing them for a violent terrorist attack on the Northern Star freight ship.
A new hero emerged within the intense battles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rising from the story of one who never truly received the recognition they deserved. Now, Daredevil: Born Again has the opportunity to continue that hero’s story and introduce them to a new generation.
Daredevil: Born Again Reveals The New White Tiger

Season one of Daredevil: Born Again introduced Hector Ayala, also known as the White Tiger, a local hero who used a magical amulet to enhance his physical abilities. Though Matt Murdock successfully defended him in court, Hector was later killed by Wilson Fisk’s task force. This deeply affected his niece, Angela del Toro, who is now determined to continue his work and improve their community.
In the second episode, Hector’s wife, Soledad, is taken by the AVTF after defending a shopkeeper who was labeled a vigilante for simply protecting his business. Meanwhile, Angela, with her aunt, realizes Fisk’s men make people disappear permanently, so she reaches out to Kirsten McDuffie, an old friend of Matt’s and his former law partner, for assistance. Kirsten still possesses Hector’s White Tiger costume and equipment, which Angela takes. The third episode culminates in a daring prison break orchestrated by Daredevil and Karen at Fisk’s hidden jail, but the plan immediately hits snags. Fortunately, Angela arrives to aid Karen’s escape plan. Empowered by the amulet and some weapons from her uncle, the new White Tiger helps Daredevil, Swordsman, and the others escape safely, and successfully prevents Kingpin’s forces from giving chase.
White Tiger II’s Comic History, Explained

The new series, Daredevil: Born Again, is drawing directly from the established Marvel comic books. In those comics, Angela del Toro is the fourth person to become White Tiger, but she’s still related to the original White Tiger, Hector Ayala. She’s portrayed as an older, former FBI agent who begins investigating both Daredevil and the magical artifacts connected to her uncle. Eventually, Daredevil takes Angela under his wing, and she earns the title of White Tiger after bravely stopping criminals – even rescuing Daredevil from a powerful crime boss.
Angela was once killed by Lady Bullseye, but was brought back to life by the villainous ninja group known as The Hand. They controlled her for a while, until she broke free and recovered. Since then, she’s remained an active hero in the Marvel Universe and has become the sole White Tiger.

The White Tiger character appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to blend elements of both Angela del Toro (White Tiger IV) and Ava Ayala (White Tiger V). Ava was the younger sister of the original White Tiger, Hector Ayala, and was a teenager, unlike the adult Angela from the comics. In the comics, Angela and Ava fought for the right to be White Tiger, with Angela ultimately winning and gaining the power of two magical amulets.
Because Ava is relatively new to the hero scene, she’s teamed up with other young heroes like Spider-Man and joined groups such as the Daughters of Liberty, the Avengers Academy, and Heroes for Hire. Many fans believe Angela del Toro could be the next member of the Young Avengers, a team that’s been hinted at in Marvel movies and shows since Avengers: Endgame.
