Survivor 50: Blood Moon Twist Leads to Historic Triple Elimination

The Survivor 50 tribe has spoken—a historic three times in one night.

This wasn’t a prank, even though the episode aired on April 1st. Jeff Probst was serious when he announced to the newly combined tribe of 17 players that three of them would be eliminated that night.

Jeff explained to the players that in ancient times, people were frightened by blood moons, viewing them as ominous signs of disaster and even death. He warned them to take tonight’s blood moon the same way, as a major event that would drastically change the game of Survivor. He emphasized that Survivor would never be quite the same after this night.

After Rizo Velovic and Ozzy Lusth were sent to Exile Island (Ozzy discovered a twist that allowed him to choose a teammate to go with him), Jeff explained the next challenge to the remaining 15 players. They would be split into three groups of five, and the winner of each group would be immune from being voted out. Additionally, the group whose winning player lasted the longest in the competition would earn a celebratory feast.

That evening, each of the three groups would go to Tribal Council, where they’d vote one member out of the competition.

Players were randomly assigned to teams using a “rock draw.” The Orange team consisted of Jonathan Young, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Chrissy Hofbeck, Tiffany Ervin, and Kamilla Karthigesu. The Pink team included Genevieve Mushaluk, Aubry Bracco, Christian Hubicki, Rick Devens, and Joe Hunter. Finally, the Teal team was made up of Cirie Fields, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, Emily Flippen, Dee Valladares, and Colby Donaldson.

Okay, so in this challenge, three players really shone! Stephenie on the Orange team not only secured immunity for herself, but she also brought home the win for her entire team at the feast. Christian from the Pink team and Dee from the Teal team each earned individual immunity as well – a huge accomplishment for all of them! It really shakes things up when players can guarantee their safety.

Meanwhile, Rizo and Ozzy, secure from being voted out, strengthened their partnership while on Exile Island. Back at the main camp, the remaining three groups each hurried to decide who to eliminate from their respective teams.

Okay, so everyone thought Chrissy was going home last night, but a last-minute switch-up from Jonathan sent Kamilla packing – and honestly, it was a really shocking moment. She was clearly hurt and, let me tell you, she did not hold back! As they announced her name, she immediately vowed to make Jonathan pay for it. It was a dramatic exit, to say the least, and definitely set the stage for some serious tension moving forward.

It was so tough to watch Genevieve go! You could just feel the tension between her and Aubry all game, and knowing Aubry had that immunity idol made things even worse. Genevieve tried a risky move with the Shot in the Dark, hoping to save herself, but unfortunately it didn’t work out, and she lost her vote and ultimately, her torch. It was a real shame to see her leave the Pink team.

When Genevieve’s name was announced, she tried to make peace with Aubry by giving her a thoughtful gift: her favorite red coat. “I want you to have this,” she said. “It’s really beautiful, please take good care of it.”

Colby felt vulnerable on the Teal tribe because of a foot injury and having lost his vote earlier in the game. Although Coach tried to convince others to keep him around, Colby was ultimately eliminated.

Even after playing four times, Colby was genuinely happy to be back at Tribal Council.

He explained that he approached his fourth season with a fresh mindset and clear objectives. While there were tough days, particularly when dealing with injuries and feeling powerless, he made a conscious effort to focus on the positive aspects. He also reflected on how much time had passed since his first game, noting that half his life had already gone by.

As he put it, “I just appreciate the opportunity to come back one more time.”
