Both Star Wars and Stranger Things explore similar ideas, feature well-developed characters, and aren’t afraid to kill off characters we love. Because of these similarities, it’s easy to picture the actors from Stranger Things fitting into roles within the Star Wars universe, both in movies and on TV.
It’s not surprising to find similarities between the characters in Stranger Things and those in Star Wars – the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, are big Star Wars fans. Because of this, it’s easy to imagine the main actors from Stranger Things playing roles in the Star Wars universe.
14) Millie Bobby Brown as Leia

Millie Bobby Brown, famous for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, would be an excellent choice to play Princess Leia. She’s already demonstrated her ability to portray strong, complex characters, and she clearly has the talent to handle Leia’s sharp wit and sarcasm. Considering the difficult experiences her character, Eleven, goes through in Stranger Things, Brown also understands how to play a character dealing with grief and loss – something Leia faces throughout the Star Wars saga.
13) Jamie Campbell Bower as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Jamie Campbell Bower, who starred as Vecna in Stranger Things, would be a great choice to play Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. His Stranger Things character went through a similar journey to Anakin’s, portraying a complex villain. Bower successfully captured the emotional layers of that role, proving he can handle Anakin’s depth, and he’s already demonstrated his ability to play compelling villains, making him perfect for Darth Vader as well.
12 ) Joe Keery as Han Solo

It might seem obvious, but Joe Keery, known for playing Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, would be a fantastic Han Solo. He’s got the same cool charm and could easily capture Han’s personality – tough on the outside, but with a good heart. His character in Stranger Things actually follows a similar path, starting as somewhat unlikeable and evolving into a beloved hero. Plus, Keery clearly has the charisma to be a leading man, just like Harrison Ford was.
11) Finn Wolfhard as Ben Solo

Finn Wolfhard, known for playing the heroic Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, would be a fantastic choice to play a young Ben Solo/Kylo Ren. He already has the right look – especially reminiscent of Ben’s training with Luke – and his performance as Mike demonstrates his ability to portray a wide range of emotions. This emotional depth would be crucial for capturing Ben Solo’s complex inner turmoil, even before he became Kylo Ren.
10) Caleb McLaughlin as Quinlan Vos

I have to say, Caleb McLaughlin totally stole the show as Lucas in Stranger Things, especially in season 5. The way he was so brave and fiercely loyal to Max – he’d literally risk everything for her! – it seriously gave me Jedi vibes. And that’s why I think he’d be amazing as Quinlan Vos in Star Wars. Vos is this really cool, complicated character who hasn’t gotten a ton of screen time, but fans love him. Caleb could absolutely own that role and give Vos the spotlight he’s always deserved. I really think he’d be perfect!
9) Noah Schnapp as Luke Skywalker

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on Stranger Things, would be a perfect fit for the role of Luke Skywalker. Both characters experience significant hardship and trauma from the start, yet maintain their kindness and optimism. Like Luke trying to redeem Darth Vader, Will attempts to understand and save Vecna. Plus, Schnapp physically resembles a young Luke Skywalker, making him an ideal choice.
8) David Harbour as Uncle Owen

David Harbour, known for his role as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, would be a perfect choice to play Uncle Owen in a Star Wars project. Hopper is a tough, often irritable character, but underneath that exterior, he’s deeply caring – qualities that align well with Owen Lars. The relationship Hopper has with Eleven – often frustrating but ultimately loving – closely mirrors the dynamic between Owen and Luke Skywalker. Especially in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Owen’s protective and loving side is highlighted, like when he fiercely defends Luke and refers to him as “his own,” demonstrating Harbour’s suitability for the role.
7) Gaten Matarazzo as Ezra Bridger

Gaten Matarazzo, known for his kind and charming personality on Stranger Things, quickly became a fan favorite. Though the character Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels is more mischievous, he shares similar good-hearted qualities. As Stranger Things progressed, it became clear Matarazzo could easily portray a more rebellious side, making him a natural fit for the energetic and heroic role of Ezra Bridger.
6) Joseph Quinn as Kanan Jarrus

Given that Gaten Matarazzo might be playing Ezra Bridger, it would be a natural choice to cast his Stranger Things co-star, Joseph Quinn (who played Eddie Munson), as Kanan Jarrus, Ezra’s Jedi Master. Though Kanan wasn’t as outwardly eccentric as Eddie, he still had a playful, sarcastic side that Quinn could easily portray. Plus, both characters share the tragic fate of a heartbreaking death, which makes the casting feel particularly fitting.
5) Sadie Sink as Ahsoka Tano

Sadie Sink’s character, Max Mayfield, quickly became a fan favorite on Stranger Things despite joining the show in its second season. It’s fitting that she’s now playing Ahsoka Tano, because Ahsoka shares a similar story! Like Max, Ahsoka wasn’t part of the original story – she was introduced later in Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and TV series. Despite this, she quickly won over fans and became a beloved character. Both characters also demonstrated leadership skills – Max in season 5 of Stranger Things, and Ahsoka throughout her story.
4) Brett Gelman as General Hux

Brett Gelman’s character, Murray, on Stranger Things is funny and complex, and many viewers might not immediately think of him for a Star Wars role. However, he’d be a fantastic General Hux! Gelman is clearly skilled at playing quirky, comedic characters, and he’d likely enjoy the chance to play a Star Wars villain. Plus, since Hux is eventually revealed as a spy working against the First Order, Gelman wouldn’t have to play a truly evil character for very long.
3) Natalia Dyer as Padmé

Natalia Dyer, known for her role as Nancy Wheeler in Stranger Things, would be an excellent choice to play Padmé Amidala. Both characters were fearless fighters from a young age, confidently taking on villains. Just like Padmé faced Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, Nancy bravely confronted Vecna in Stranger Things season four. Dyer also physically resembles Padmé and has experience playing a romantic lead, demonstrated by her work on Stranger Things.
2) Charlie Heaton as Cal Kestis

Charlie Heaton might seem like an unusual choice for a Star Wars role, but that’s only because his character, Jonathan Byers, on Stranger Things wasn’t always able to showcase Heaton’s natural charisma. Jonathan does have some intense and emotionally charged scenes, especially involving his brother Will, which demonstrates Heaton’s ability to portray the complex character of Jedi Survivor Cal Kestis. While Cal hasn’t appeared on TV or in a movie yet, fans have been hoping for a live-action adaptation, and Heaton would be a fantastic fit.
1) Winona Ryder as Shmi Skywalker

Winona Ryder, best known as Joyce Byers from Stranger Things, would be perfect for the role of Shmi Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker’s mother. While Shmi only appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, she was a very important character with many heartfelt moments. Ryder has already shown she can play a powerful and caring mother in Stranger Things, making her well-suited for this role.
