We had no idea what to expect from Ingrid in Street Fighter 6, but we certainly didn’t anticipate references to Alice in Wonderland.
The first trailer for this Capcom fighting game character is wild and chaotic, filled with strange, cosmic imagery. This suggests her gameplay will be equally unpredictable and exciting.
Even for a Street Fighter game, the initial look at this new character is incredibly over-the-top and anime-inspired, and it’s got us really excited for her release later this spring.
Capcom often hints at new downloadable characters with a cinematic trailer like this one, and then shows how they play in the game later on.
Many people aren’t aware that Ingrid’s story is finally getting the attention it deserves. The Japanese publisher hasn’t treated her character well in the past, so this is a chance to give her a proper and satisfying storyline.
She was originally created for a 3D fighting game called Capcom Fighting All-Stars, but the game was cancelled before it could be released in arcades or on PlayStation 2.
Instead, she ended up in Capcom Fighting Evolution, a game widely considered a disappointing attempt to profit from combining characters and features from different Capcom fighting games like Darkstalkers and Red Earth.
Although she’s been included in past games like Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max on the PSP and Capcom Fighting Collection 2, this marks her first time as a fully featured character in a core Street Fighter title.
This trailer might not appeal to everyone, but we really like it and are excited to see the character fully realized on screen.
