Mel B Hints at Real Reason Spice Girls Reunion Tour Is Not Happening

Mel B is saying what she really, really wants to fans.

Following months of rumors about a possible reunion, the members of the Spice Girls – Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, and Emma Bunton – have explained why they aren’t planning to tour together in the near future.

Mel recently told HELLO! magazine that a reunion tour is highly unlikely. “I can confidently say it’s not going to happen,” she explained. “If it did, I’d be very surprised. While I loved being on tour and felt completely at home, I think that chapter is closed.”

She explained, ‘I’m fifty now, and I’ve decided to stop pushing people to tour if they’re not interested. I made that decision when I turned fifty.’

Melanie Brown, known as the singer of “Stop,” isn’t convinced she’d be up for a Spice Girls reunion, even if the other members wanted one.

She admitted she wasn’t sure. She said she has a lot of love and respect for the other Spice Girls, and she’s grateful for everything the group has done for her personally and professionally. She has many happy memories, but isn’t certain she’d want to perform with them again.

However, she’ll still always support her fellow Spice Girls, whom she last joined on stage at the 2012 Summer Olympics when she was known as Scary Spice.

She explained that their connection was incredibly strong and would always exist. She described them as being like family, deeply and permanently connected.

Mel B recently spoke about the Spice Girls after Melanie C announced there won’t be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit song, “Wannabe.” Despite this, there’s still hope for fans that the group might reunite in some way in the future.

Mel C recently shared on the Smallzy Show that the Spice Girls are in constant communication and eager to reunite. While she doesn’t know when that might happen, she remains hopeful that fans will see them perform together again someday.

The Spice Girls aren’t planning a reunion tour in the near future, but let’s take a look back at their incredible journey as one of pop music’s most famous groups.

In 1996, the Spice Girls exploded onto the music scene with their hit song “Wannabe.” The British group quickly became a worldwide phenomenon and are now recognized as the best-selling female musical group ever, having sold more than 85 million records globally.

As a longtime observer of pop culture, I still remember when this girl group absolutely killed it at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City! Their performance of ‘Say You’ll Be There’ was electric. And to top it off, they snagged the Best Dance Video award that same night for ‘Wannabe’ – a truly iconic moment!

How lucky is Prince Harry! This photo shows him with his father, Prince Charles, when they met the Spice Girls back in 1997.

Geri Halliwell, known as Ginger Spice, cemented the Spice Girls’ image when she wore a Union Jack mini-dress at the 1997 Brit Awards. Despite some initial shock, the outfit became incredibly famous and later sold for over $58,000 to benefit charity.

Released in December 1997, Spice World: The Movie was a huge success right away. Even twenty years later, it’s still a beloved film, and recently played in U.K. cinemas to mark its anniversary!

In 1998, the Spice Girls – Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby, and Ginger Spice – posed for a group photo. Two years later, in 2000, they decided to take a break from the group to pursue individual music careers.

In 2007, the Spice Girls reunited for a hugely popular world tour that sold out incredibly quickly—in just 38 seconds! They also performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that same year in Hollywood.

The popular girl group got back together after four years to celebrate the opening night of Viva Forever!, a musical based on their career.

The Spice Girls reunited for a performance of their popular songs, including “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life,” at the closing celebration of the 2012 London Olympics.

Oh my gosh, back in 2016, it was EVERYTHING when Mel B, Geri, and Emma announced they were doing a side project called GEM! I remember when a sneak peek of their song, ‘Song for Her,’ somehow got out online – it was amazing! Sadly, around the time Geri announced she was pregnant with her second baby, everything just…stopped. It was heartbreaking, and the project seemed to be put on hold indefinitely. I’m still hoping they’ll revisit it someday!

As a huge Spice Girls fan, I totally lost it when they posted that photo back in February 2018! Social media absolutely exploded – it was complete chaos, but the best kind! Seeing all five of them together again was incredible.

The Spice Girls released a statement expressing their joy at reconnecting and remembering their time together. They were touched by the worldwide excitement surrounding the group and feel ready to explore new projects. They agreed they want to build on the original spirit of The Spice Girls and continue to inspire female empowerment for years to come.

In late 2018, the Spice Girls—Geri, Emma, and the Mels—announced they were reuniting for a tour, while Victoria Beckham chose to focus on her fashion business. They kicked off their 13-city European tour on May 24, 2019, at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, and finished with three shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. The tour was a huge success, earning over $78 million and demonstrating the enduring appeal of ‘Girl Power’.
