‘Agent From Above’ Reviews: Was Netflix Action Fantasy Series Was Worth the 7 Year Wait?

After almost ten years in development, a hugely ambitious action fantasy series from has finally arrived. The streaming service has had success with similar shows like The Witcher, Shadow & Bone, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, so early reviews will show if this latest project was worth the wait and investment for both the platform and its viewers.

After numerous setbacks – including on-set injuries, a lengthy post-production process, and pandemic-related delays – the action fantasy series, Agent from Above, finally premiered last week on April 2nd. Based on the first book of Teensy’s popular “The Oracle Comes” novel series, the show spent approximately seven years in development. Agent from Above uniquely combines Taiwanese folk beliefs with modern fantasy, telling the story of Han Chieh (Kai Ko), a spirit medium who must resolve supernatural problems as penance for a past mistake, all while serving the Third Crown Prince (Wang Po-chieh).
