Fans were excited to see photos hinting that The Defenders—Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist—will reunite in the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again. Now, rumors suggest Marvel Studios is planning spin-off shows centered around each of these characters. The connection between the former Netflix Marvel shows and the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) began in 2021 with appearances by Matt Murdock (Daredevil) in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
Marvel reportedly looking at The Defenders spin-offs after Daredevil set update
According to a recent post by reliable source MyTimetoShineHello, Marvel is reportedly developing spin-off shows based on The Defenders. They shared this information on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
As of now, reports about solo projects for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are just rumors. Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything officially.
Photos taken during filming of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 suggest that Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will be appearing. The pictures show Colter and Jones, along with Krysten Ritter who is reprising her role as Jessica Jones, leaving a courthouse in Brooklyn. They were wearing hooded robes that gave a glimpse of their superhero costumes.
One figure wore a brown and yellow suit that matched the one Cage used during his mayoral campaign in the Devil’s Reign comic series. The other was dressed more casually in a white shirt, green pants, and light brown shoes.
Season 3 of Born Again is currently being filmed and is expected to arrive in March 2027, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. Recent reports indicate that when the season begins, the Defenders will be tasked with protecting the city while Matt Murdock is incarcerated.
The first three episodes of Season 2 are now available on Disney+. New episodes will be released every Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time until May 5, 2026. The show was created by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord, with Scardapane also acting as showrunner.
After the second season concludes, a special presentation titled ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ starring Jon Bernthal will be released on May 12, 2026.
