He explained they often check in with each other proactively, asking things like, ‘Do you need a moment to yourself before we talk this through?’ or ‘Would you prefer to discuss this right away?’ They also consider how best to handle disagreements, asking, ‘Is it better to resolve things immediately, or would you rather sleep on it? Are you someone who finds it difficult to rest if you’re upset?’
He explained that, particularly in a romantic relationship, it’s important to discuss and agree on boundaries and expectations beforehand.
