Crimson Desert has been chosen as our Game of the Month for March 2026! Considering how much everyone is enjoying it, this announcement probably isn’t a surprise. (Updated April 6th, 2026, 7pm)

This fantasy adventure game, set in an open world, has quickly become incredibly popular, selling over four million copies in just a few weeks. It easily won our readers’ poll, with little competition from other games.

Speaking of which, over 930 votes were cast across a selection of 16 quality PS5 titles.

Here are the top five PlayStation 5 games for March 2026, as chosen by readers of Push Square.

  2. Marathon – 165 votes (18%)
  3. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection – 74 votes (8%)
  4. South of Midnight – 48 votes (5%)
  5. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake – 42 votes (5%)

I remember everyone getting so excited about Crimson Desert before it came out! There was a lot of talk about whether it could actually deliver on everything they showed. Honestly, even from the gameplay previews, it always seemed like a really huge and complicated game – almost too ambitious, you know?

Pearl Abyss deserves credit – the story of Kliff, the quiet and reliable mercenary, has really captivated players. It’s the kind of game where you can easily spend hours, days, or even weeks completely immersed in its world.

Our review of Crimson Desert on PS5 wasn’t great – we gave it a 6 out of 10 – but we noted that the game could become something really impressive with further development.

We primarily criticized the game because its performance, especially on the standard PlayStation 5, wasn’t good enough. We also pointed out that it was missing many convenient features that would have improved the player experience.

Since that review was published, Pearl Abyss has already released significant updates with real improvements. We’ll likely revisit the game for another review in the future.

Okay, so the big news is Crimson Desert is my Game of the Month for March 2026 on PS5! Seriously hyped about this one. And hey, congrats to Kliff – looks like he just completed another goal!

March was an incredibly busy month for video game releases, as it often is. The PlayStation 5, in particular, had a full schedule with several major new titles coming out.

Last month, Crimson Desert was the talk of the gaming world and is already shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2026. It’s a highly anticipated open-world game and a strong contender for Game of the Month.

Okay, so Pearl Abyss’ game isn’t the only thing going on. I gotta talk about Marathon too. It’s a totally different beast – a really intense, technical shooter from Bungie. It hasn’t blown up in terms of player numbers, but honestly, the people who are playing it absolutely love it. It’s got a dedicated fanbase for sure.

March also brought us Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, a truly excellent game and potentially the best in Capcom’s line of turn-based RPGs.

Screamer is a fast-paced arcade racing game that stands out with its focus on storytelling and interesting characters. And South of Midnight, previously only available on Xbox, is simply a beautiful game to experience.

That’s some impressive variety, isn’t it?
