Voice acting is a surprisingly overlooked skill, especially considering how much memorable media relies on it. From video games and anime to all kinds of animation, voice actors add crucial depth and personality to the characters we love. It’s particularly amazing when a single actor can create vastly different and convincing voices for multiple characters, truly bringing them to life.
Nancy Cartwright is the incredibly talented voice actor behind many of the most memorable characters on the long-running show The Simpsons. Without her, Bart Simpson, Nelson Muntz, and even Todd Flanders wouldn’t sound the same! She’s a true legend, and the video below shows you how she brings these characters to life as her career.
The Simpsons is Full of VAs Doing Multiple Voices
Since the show first aired in 1989, a small group of voice actors – Hank Azaria, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Nancy Cartwright – have consistently played many different characters. While this is an interesting fact, some fans believe it’s a good reason to conclude the series, particularly as the original cast members get older and their voices change. Discussions about a main cast member potentially leaving led to suggestions of a grand finale before a replacement is needed. One viewer pointed out that it’s better to end the show proactively, on their own terms, rather than waiting until an actor is no longer able to continue, at which point it would be too late.
I’ve been a fan for years, and it’s amazing how The Simpsons has become such a huge part of our culture! It’s stayed current by always reflecting what’s happening now, and even though some people think it’s run its course, it just keeps going, still hilariously pointing out the funny side of everyday life. For me, those first seven seasons are absolute classics – some of the best TV ever made. They’ve really secured The Simpsons‘ place as a true television legend.
