Kevin Costner reportedly only wanted to film for one week on the second half of Season 5. Studio executives found this unacceptable. Unable to reach an agreement with Costner, Paramount Global decided to conclude the original series and create a new spin-off sequel led by Matthew McConaughey. Shows like Landman and Tulsa King, with their Western themes, could be a good fit for him, potentially even as a villain. Plus, Taylor Sheridan recently signed a massive deal with NBCUniversal to create over 20 new shows and movies for NBC and Peacock. Knowing Sheridan likes to work with big stars, he may well cast McConaughey in a future project soon.

This one sounds wild – they’re playing fictionalized versions of themselves, and the plot revolves around them and their families trying to live together on McConaughey’s ranch in Texas.
