Netflix is really trying to prove to One Piece fans that it cares about what they want. Live-action anime adaptations haven’t always been great, so fans aren’t used to getting exactly what they ask for – and Netflix has often been a source of disappointment with remakes that didn’t respect the original stories or their audience. That’s why One Piece has been such a pleasant surprise. The first season delivered on almost everything fans hoped for, and the second season continued that success by meeting even more expectations.
Netflix has confirmed that a third season of One Piece is coming. This wasn’t unexpected, as season 2 received incredibly positive reviews – a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 95% viewer rating. While Netflix could have rested on its success, the announcement of One Piece season 3, officially titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, and its 2027 premiere date shows they’re still focused on keeping their fans happy.
One Piece Season 3‘s 2027 Release Eases Fans’ Concerns
As a huge fan, I was really worried about the long wait – almost three years! – between the first and second seasons of One Piece. It’s frustrating to wait so long for new episodes, especially when a show is as popular as this one. But more than that, a massive story like One Piece needs to keep moving forward. Releasing just a little bit of it every few years wouldn’t work. This live-action version is fantastic, and I’d hate to see it fizzle out because we have to wait ages for each new part. One Piece deserves consistent releases so everyone can enjoy the whole adventure!
Netflix really impressed us with their response to our feedback. The announcement of a 2027 release for One Piece season 3 is amazing! Even if the episodes come out late next year, it’s still a much quicker turnaround than most big-budget fantasy shows.
As a huge fan, the timing of this new season really tells me Netflix is all-in on One Piece. Getting the Alabasta arc so quickly after season 2 is awesome, and it feels like they’re setting a new pace for how quickly they’ll release arcs going forward. I’m hoping we see season 4 within two years of season 3, and that pattern continue. Honestly, I don’t need a new season every single year like we’re getting with season 3, but it’s great to see Netflix recognize how much fans love this show and keep the momentum going!
One Piece – The Battle Of Alabasta Will Be Even Better Than Season 2
While Netflix is releasing seasons of One Piece quickly, some worry this might mean a drop in quality. However, the title of the upcoming season, One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, suggests they’re going all-out. This season will cover the Alabasta Saga, a fan-favorite storyline that’s considered a turning point – the moment when the series truly hits its stride and gets exceptionally good.
The Alabasta arc is where the One Piece series on Netflix really needs to deliver big moments. This includes formally introducing Portgas D. Ace (played by Xolo Maridueña of Cobra Kai), showcasing the intense fights between the Straw Hats and Baroque Works’ strongest members, adding Nico Robin to the crew, exploring Chopper’s powers in more detail, and, of course, the two incredible battles between Luffy and Crocodile. Each episode of One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta should be more exciting and impactful than what we’ve seen in the first two seasons. This is exactly what One Piece fans have been hoping for, so let’s enjoy how Netflix is bringing it to life.
