Are there too many games inspired by the ‘Souls’ series? One More Level, the team behind Ghostrunner, doesn’t think so. Their new game, Valor Mortis, is set in 19th-century Europe where Napoleon has built an unstoppable, undead army. Early gameplay tests were promising, and now we’re getting a longer look at how it plays.
Staying put and fighting with your saber is important in Valor Mortis, but you’ll also be doing a lot of moving around. Similar to Ghostrunner, you’ll swing from poles, use a grappling hook to reach higher areas, and even slow down time to make accurate attacks. This is crucial, especially when facing the challenging bosses. For example, one boss has a huge, open chest that shoots out corrosive slime – you’ll definitely want to steer clear of that!
I’m really hyped for Valor Mortis – it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this fall! You play as William, who gets brought back to life in this seriously messed up version of the world. The monsters we’ve seen in the trailer? Trust me, that’s just a small taste of the real nightmare waiting for us.
The game will feature a wide variety of weapons and spells, but it’s still a challenging Souls-like experience. You’ll need to carefully manage your stamina, master parrying, and utilize other skills to survive. We’ll share more details, including a firm release date, in the next few months.
