A new trailer for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the first traditional side-scrolling Castlevania game since Order of Ecclesia, was shown at the Triple-i Initiative Showcase. While we still don’t know when it will be released, the trailer features a good look at the gameplay and includes appearances by well-known historical characters. You can watch it below.
I’m really getting a good feel for how this game plays! It’s not just fighting – the platforming looks awesome, with cool moves like wall-jumping to dodge obstacles. You can even use the environment against enemies, like dropping a chandelier on their heads! Plus, it looks like you can level up your character, which is always a good thing. But I’m super curious about this character called “The Fallen” – they look a lot like Alucard, don’t they? Hopefully we’ll learn more about them soon!
Revealed during the recent State of Play presentation, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set in Paris in 1499. Though Trevor Belmont appears in the game, players will control his descendant, using the legendary Vampire Killer whip to defeat monsters. This whip isn’t just for combat; it also allows for enhanced movement, letting you swing across gaps and quickly close in on enemies – offering more freedom than earlier Castlevania games.
This game differs from Evil Empire’s previous titles like Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia – it’s not a rogue-lite. Instead, it features a Metroidvania style of exploration where you’ll journey through diverse environments, discover hidden secrets, and solve puzzles. Expect challenging boss battles, including encounters with Death. And there’s more to come – Konami has hinted that this is just one of several new games in the series being developed.
