After being announced in December 2024, the game Thick as Thieves quietly disappeared from public view. Now, it’s back with a major change: it’s no longer a player-versus-environment-versus-player game. The developers at OtherSide Entertainment are now concentrating on single-player and cooperative experiences. They recently showed off some gameplay at the Triple-i Initiative Showcase to give players a better idea of what to expect. You can watch it below.
You’ll find plenty to do, from sneaking into secure locations and pickpocketing keys to leaving your mark with calling cards. Not every job will go smoothly, so you might need to evade capture to get away. This is a quick preview of what you can expect in the complete game, which releases on May 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Despite what you might expect, this story isn’t connected to the graphic novel by Dan Santat. Instead, Thick as Thieves is set in Kilcairn, a reimagined city resembling the 1910s, where being a thief is big business – and it’s thriving. You begin as a new recruit, working to climb the ranks and become a legendary thief.
As you progress, you’ll gain access to new abilities, but each night will present a unique challenge. Success depends on being clever and reacting quickly. We’ll share more information before the game is released.
