As a gamer, I grew up loving the Terminator movies, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day is seriously one of the best sci-fi films ever. We’ve seen a few sequels and other Terminator stuff over the years, but now we finally get a new game where we can relive the fight against the T-1000 and Skynet! And the coolest part? We can team up with friends and play through it all together in co-op. It’s going to be epic!
STUDIOCANAL is releasing a new board game called Terminator 2: The Board Game. Designed for 1 to 3 players, you’ll play as Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the T-800, working together to prevent Skynet from taking over the world. While completing missions and collecting vital information, you’ll also have to evade the relentless and dangerous T-1000. You can get a first look at the game below.

Terminator 2 Will Make You Work Together, But There Are Multiple Ways To Win

What’s great about this game is that you have three distinct paths to victory. You can directly destroy Skynet, prevent its launch through hacking, or warn the world about the danger and shut down Cyberdyne Systems before Skynet activates. Each path culminates in a final mission: succeed and you win instantly, but fail, and the game is over.
As you play, you’ll collect information, team up with allies, and find better weapons. You might even need to adjust your strategy based on what happens. Throughout it all, the T-1000 will relentlessly pursue you—and we mean relentlessly. After each player takes their turn, the T-1000 gets a turn to hunt you. The more you move around and make noise, the easier it becomes for the T-1000 to track you down and surprise you.
Okay, so not only are you trying to escape the T-1000, but you’ve also got these final missions you have to finish before time’s up! The game is split into three chapters, and each hero gets a shot at things in every one. If you reach the end of the last chapter without completing a final mission, it’s game over. And if you try a final mission and mess it up, you lose too – so no pressure! It’s a pretty intense race against the clock and the Terminator.

Another challenge is that, like previous games in the series, John loses if he’s injured twice. Also, even if you recover from being knocked down, you’ll carry a lasting injury that takes up valuable space on your player board – space that could have been used for improvements, making the game more difficult.
To counter the powerful T-1000, you’ll develop your own characters throughout the game. As you play, you’ll get more dice, boost your stamina, improve your rolls, and become stealthier. You’ll also find useful equipment and team up with allies. However, the T-1000 also gets stronger as you do, creating a challenging and exciting experience we’re really looking forward to!
Terminator 2: The Board Game is slated to release in 2027.
