With the recent news that For All Mankind will conclude after its sixth season – and as Season 5 has just launched on Apple TV – fans are revisiting a popular idea: the show’s alternate history will eventually lead to humanity discovering alien life.
I’m a huge fan of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind! It’s a really cool show that imagines what would have happened if the Soviets had beaten the US to the moon. What I love is that each season takes place a decade later, so it feels totally fresh every time and opens up so many possibilities for the story and the characters. It’s not the same old space race we all know!
TopMob recently attended interviews with the creators and cast of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind at WonderCon 2026. During these discussions, co-showrunner Ben Nedivi responded to fan speculation about the possibility of the show eventually featuring first contact with extraterrestrial life.
The creative team aims for accuracy in their depiction of events, so they don’t plan to include aliens in the show. While acknowledging the show differs from traditional science fiction, they believe it’s becoming increasingly science fictional as it progresses. Ultimately, however, they prioritize staying grounded in scientific fact over fantastical fiction.
I was really excited to get a chance to ask Ben Nedivi a question at WonderCon 2026, and you can find the full exchange below. If you’re interested in more of our coverage from the event, we also chatted with the cast of Ted over at Peacock – you can check that out too!
Will For All Mankind Ever See First Contact?

“Aliens Is Probably not In Our Wheelhouse.”
- TopMob: “Fans have been speculating that maybe eventually this show might take it to where the characters meet, little extraterrestrial beings possibly. Is that something you’re thinking about, or how would you feel if that was the direction the show would go?”
Ben Nedivi explained that their show aims for a more grounded and realistic approach compared to most science fiction programs. While the show is gradually incorporating more science fiction elements, they generally prefer to focus on scientific accuracy. He acknowledged it’s becoming increasingly challenging to maintain that balance, but they’re still striving to prioritize science fact over pure fiction, especially considering how the show has evolved since its first season.
