Level-5 has announced a remake of a previously little-known Nintendo 3DS game for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 5. While a release date hasn’t been revealed yet, a short teaser trailer is available for fans to check out until more details are announced.
Level-5 is releasing Snack World: Reloaded, a revamped version of their 2017 game, Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold. Originally, Snack World was only available on the Nintendo 3DS, but a Switch version came out worldwide in 2020. While the original wasn’t a huge hit, Level-5 says Reloaded feels like a completely new experience with updated gameplay, story, and controls. It’s unclear why they’re revisiting the game now, but they promise significant improvements.
“A Brand-New Game”
At the LEVEL-5 Vision 2026 Craftsmanship event, LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino announced they are rebuilding Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold. He explained that the game has been significantly updated with changes to gameplay, controls, and story, making it feel almost like a completely new title.
Level-5 also announced a new game mode where players can play as Chup, the main character from the anime, and see the story through his eyes.
The exciting thing about this new game is that Level-5, a relatively small studio, is already working on several other titles. They’re currently developing Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, DecaPolice, Inazuma Eleven Re, and Holy Horror Mansion, and now another project has been added to the list. It’s a mystery how they’re managing to juggle so many games at once.
Fans of the Nintendo 3DS are having a great year so far. One of the highlights has been a new game in a series that originally launched on the 3DS. Plus, Square Enix recently surprised everyone by releasing a remastered version of a role-playing game that was once only available on the 3DS.
