Why Derek Hough’s Wife Hayley Says Her Heart Is “Breaking” After Baby

Hayley Erbert is sharing the ups and downs of motherhood.

Three months after welcoming their daughter, Everley, with her husband Derek Hough, the former Dancing With the Stars contestant shared how she’s been feeling since becoming a mom.

Honestly, becoming a mom has been so much more complicated than I ever thought possible. It’s like I’m living in two different worlds simultaneously – experiencing pure joy and deep sadness at the exact same time, and it’s totally normal! It’s a beautiful, messy, and completely overwhelming experience.

She added, “My heart is constantly bursting open, while also breaking into a million pieces.”

Hayley, who married Derek in 2023, also spoke directly to her daughter, Everley, saying she’s enjoying watching her grow up, even though it’s bittersweet to see her change so quickly.

It’s a strange mix of feelings – being thrilled about all the new experiences to come, while also wanting to hold onto the present and not let it end. It’s beautiful and confusing to want time to both slow down and keep moving forward, because we know it always will.

Even though Hayley was struggling with her feelings, she promised her daughter, whom she loved very much.

She said she’ll embrace both the joys and challenges of being a mother. She wants to fully appreciate every small thing about her child and cherish all the time they have together.

Hayley shared, “Being your mom is the greatest joy, Everley. My love for you is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.”

Oh my gosh, you guys, Derek gets it! He totally responded to all the fan posts, and it was the sweetest thing ever! He literally just wrote ‘My girls’ with a heart and a crying emoji – a crying emoji! – and I swear I almost died. It’s like he knows we’re all his biggest supporters and he appreciates us so much. I’m officially deceased.

The Dancing With the Stars judge doesn’t just show Hayley support online—he also cheers her on in person.

He shared with TopMob News in February that he tells his wife daily how wonderful she is, emphasizing she’s a natural at motherhood and meant to do this. He also expressed being deeply in love with her and constantly amazed by everything she does.
