After a decade, Naughty Dog is reportedly starting work on a new Uncharted game. It’s currently unclear whether this will be Uncharted 5, a remake of the original, a spin-off story, or something completely different. Details are limited, but the report suggests the series is moving forward, with development happening alongside the studio’s new project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which isn’t expected to launch until 2027 at the earliest.
It’s been a full decade since the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2016, the last major installment in the Uncharted series from Naughty Dog and PlayStation. That game was highly praised and a huge commercial success. Although Naughty Dog suggested they were finished with the series for the time being, many expected them to return to it sooner. That hasn’t happened. In fact, Naughty Dog hasn’t released a completely new game since 2020, meaning both the Uncharted series and the studio itself have been quiet for a while. There was Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017, but it was a standalone expansion and didn’t receive the same positive reception as a full game. The 2022 Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was simply a re-release of existing titles. Fortunately for fans, it looks like more Uncharted content is on the way.
New Uncharted Report
A new source, Alir, who has recently proven reliable with accurate leaks, claims that Naughty Dog is working on two games simultaneously. According to this insider, one of those projects is a new Uncharted game. Currently, that’s all the information available – there are no details regarding the game’s story, release date, or even which PlayStation console it will be for; it could potentially be for the PS6 instead of the PS5.
A new Uncharted game seems likely after a recent hint from someone at Naughty Dog. Interestingly, this information surfaced before the hint, and is now getting more attention because of it.
