Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will keep working to elevate their Welsh soccer club, Wrexham AFC, to the highest levels of competition, and FX/Disney+ will continue to document their journey for at least three more years.
You’re not imagining things – the popular documentary series Welcome to Wrexham has been renewed for three more seasons! That means it’s confirmed to run through season 8, which is expected in 2029.
Honestly, by the time you’re reading this, there’s a really good chance that little Welsh club will be playing in the Premier League! It’s just incredible how quickly they’ve risen – going from the fifth tier of English football all the way up to the second in just a few years. It’s a truly unprecedented climb, and as a football fan, it’s been amazing to watch.
Things started to improve for Wrexham AFC after actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club and became its co-chairmen. Wrexham AFC is one of the oldest professional soccer teams in the world, dating back to 1864.
Similar to the feel-good show Ted Lasso, the story of hopeful Americans finding success in Britain has really resonated with audiences, and they can be happy to know there’s much more to come.

We’re incredibly thankful for our amazing partners at FX, who have supported us throughout this entire journey. We’re thrilled to continue sharing the story of Wrexham for many years to come.

Renewing the show for three more seasons proves Rob and Ryan’s creative direction is working, and that audiences continue to love the series.

I’m so excited for season 5 of Welcome to Wrexham! It’s coming to Disney+ on Friday, May 15th, 2026, and they’re starting with two episodes at once! After that, new episodes will drop weekly, which is perfect for keeping the conversation going.
The show follows the passionate staff and fans as Wrexham AFC strives for promotion to the top league, facing doubts and predictions of failure along the way. The big question is: can Wrexham overcome the obstacles and prove they belong with the best teams?
I’m really excited because the show isn’t just about the guys’ team – we’re also going to see what’s happening with the women’s team, following their journey as well. It’ll give us a much fuller picture of everything going on.
Now with a new coach and a dedicated home field, Wrexham AFC Women are continuing to compete with the leading teams in the Welsh Adran Premier League, and are building on the progress they’ve made over the past few seasons.
Welcome to Wrexham is available to stream on Disney+. Sign-up to Disney+ from £5.99 a month.
