The Inbetweeners tipped for long-awaited return with new Netflix special

A revival of The Inbetweeners seems more likely than ever. A significant agreement reached late last year has paved the way for potential new episodes.

Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, the creators of the show, reached a deal back in October that suggested the comedy might be coming back, but there hadn’t been any updates – until today!

According to The Sun, Netflix is in talks to make another Inbetweeners movie with the original cast, in a deal reportedly worth millions of pounds. The source remains anonymous.

Considering the huge success of the first two Inbetweeners films in the UK, it’s understandable why the streaming service would want to pursue this project.

The film actually had a record-breaking opening weekend for a British comedy in August 2011, earning £13.2 million. It eventually made $88 million worldwide, which was much more than anyone predicted.

The second installment was successful, though not as popular as the original, and it left viewers questioning if there would be more stories about Will, Jay, Neil, and Simon.

For years, the main actors expressed skepticism about a revival, but a recent agreement between Morris and Beesley has sparked hope among fans that it might actually happen.

Currently, no one has officially confirmed their involvement, but a source told The Sun that a third movie released directly on streaming services is probably going to happen.

TopMob has reached out to Netflix for comment.

Fans of The Inbetweeners will be happy to hear that a reboot is happening as a TV show. There was concern last year that any new version might not make it to the screen.

Fans will finally be able to watch the comedy again after a 16-year hiatus, though it won’t be airing on its original channel, Channel 4.

Emily Atack, known for her role on ‘Rivals’, is also being considered to return, as she previously played Charlotte Hinchcliffe, Will’s brief romantic partner, in the original show.

We’ll bring you further updates as more details come to light.

The Inbetweeners is available to stream on the Channel 4 website.
