You, Me & Tuscany has bested rival rom-com Anyone But You during its debut weekend.
The new romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany, released in theaters on April 10, 2026, features Halle Bailey as a woman who pretends to be engaged to the owner of an Italian villa after being discovered trespassing. This leads to a romance with the owner’s cousin, played by Regé-Jean Page (known from Bridgerton). It’s one of the first major theatrical rom-com releases since the 2023 hit Anyone But You – a modern take on Much Ado About Nothing starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, which earned $220 million on a $25 million budget.
According to Deadline, You, Me & Tuscany is expected to make $8.3 million domestically over its opening weekend. However, that won’t be enough to reach the top three; it’s currently projected to debut at No. 4. The film is trailing behind the popular movies Project Hail Mary (in its fourth weekend), The Super Mario Bros. Movie (in its second weekend), and the talked-about new release The Drama (also in its second weekend), all from A24.
Despite this, the new romantic comedy is already earning more than Anyone But You did during its opening weekend, which brought in $6 million and debuted at No. 4 last year. That opening amount was about half of the $18 million budget for You, Me & Tuscany. The movie still needs to earn quite a bit to become profitable—likely around $45 million overall. But if it performs similarly to Anyone But You over its entire run, it could potentially reach $300 million or more worldwide.
It’s still uncertain whether You, Me & Tuscany will be as successful as Anyone But You. The 2023 hit benefited from factors this new movie doesn’t have, like off-screen dating rumors between stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney that fueled publicity. Also, Anyone But You was released during the popular Christmas movie season, which generally helps films maintain an audience over several weeks.
As a total movie buff, I was really surprised by how well Anyone But You held up! It didn’t just not drop in its second and third weekends – it actually increased, jumping up almost 46% and then another 11%. Now, You, Me & Tuscany is hitting theaters right before summer, which is always a tough time for rom-coms because a big blockbuster usually comes out every couple of weeks. It’s going to have a challenge on its hands during its second weekend with the new horror film Lee Cronin’s The Mummy coming out, and then the Michael Jackson biopic Michael right after. It’s a lot of competition, but I’m hoping it can still find an audience!
As a total movie buff, I’ve been keeping an eye on the early reactions to You Me, & Tuscany, and honestly, it looks like it could be huge. People are really connecting with it! While critics gave it a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes – which isn’t amazing, but better than the 53% Anyone But You got last year – the audience score is what really has me excited. Right now it’s at 93%, and Anyone But You only managed 87%. That suggests this one might spread by word-of-mouth even faster!
