Cave Story for PC major update now available; adds two-player mode, mod support, enhanced visuals, and more

Nicalis has significantly updated the PC version of Cave Story on Steam. The update includes new features like two-player mode and mod support, as well as improved graphics.

About the Update

This update brings all the features from the console versions of the game to Steam, including the ability to play with a friend in two-player co-op! Now you can explore the caves together.

This update includes a lot of visual improvements! We’ve added animated character portraits during conversations, made the lighting and water look more realistic, enhanced the shading in environments, and added support for widescreen displays, among other changes.

We’ve made several improvements to the gameplay, making things a bit smoother and more enjoyable. Some areas are now easier or more straightforward – even tasks like stacking puppies have been refined! We’ve also added a new Sand Pit Challenge level to the bonus challenges.

Even if you’re a long-time Cave Story fan, this update adds exciting new possibilities! You can now use player-made mods to change the game’s look, add new challenges, customize the music, and much more.
