PS5’s PS Store Is Getting a Netflix-Style Makeover Soon

Sony is planning major updates to the PS Store, along with a redesigned PS5 homepage.

A screenshot from the testing phase of the system is making the rounds online, revealing a redesigned interface for the shop. It features big, eye-catching tiles similar to those used by Netflix, and several options for filtering products.

Looking at Starfield, you’ll find it’s described with tags like ‘Open World,’ ‘Story Rich,’ and ‘Cinematic.’ Other games, like People of Note, use tags such as ‘Turn-Based Combat’ and ‘Stylised’ to show what players can expect.

These detailed tags should make it easier to find what you need, as you’ll likely be able to combine them when searching to get more specific results.

Based on a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), hovering over game tiles will now automatically play trailers, similar to how Netflix works. Each game also includes a brief description.

The tiles appear a bit big in this image, but they likely look better on a TV screen while the trailers are playing. This larger format seems to be used to highlight new or featured content, and you can see smaller, standard icons in the ‘Browse By Mood or Genre’ section below.

We haven’t had a chance to try the new format yet, but it seems like Sony is trying to make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for, and that’s a good thing.
