Ace of the Diamond Star Opens Up About The Anime’s Return

Ryota Osaka, who voices Eijun Sawamura, recently spoke with Mantan Web about the anime’s return. He shared that he always believed a sequel would happen, saying he just needed to wait for the opportunity. He never doubted he’d be able to continue the series, and that wait ultimately lasted six years.

He remembers being very happy when the announcement was made in May 2024. It was a complete surprise, and he was genuinely shocked, even managing to hold back tears.

Osaka is a highly respected voice actor with a long list of popular roles, such as Gyutaro from Demon Slayer, Yosuke Hiarata in Classroom of the Elite, and Marco Bodt from Attack on Titan. His role as Eijun is another addition to his impressive career.

After a six-year wait, Ace of the Diamond is getting a new season! The popular sports anime, originally based on a manga from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, is returning with a collaboration between animation studios Madhouse and Production I.G. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on April 5th, 2026, though the exact release timing hasn’t been announced. It will be available in a wide range of regions, including North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS countries.
