Two games that are only available on Xbox are about to be removed from the Xbox Store. Originally released in 2018 for Xbox One and PC, these games haven’t been available on any other platforms for the last eight years. The developer is shutting down, and already took the games off Steam on April 12th. They’re still available to purchase on the Xbox Store now, but that likely won’t last much longer.
Developer Doley Time Foundation is shutting down, and as a result, their two games, Boss 101 and Zazmo Arcade Pack, will no longer be available for purchase. Zazmo Arcade Pack is actually a bundle of five games. Boss 101 currently costs $14.99 and has excellent reviews on the Xbox Store, where it’s available for both Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Zazmo Arcade Pack is also on those same platforms for $9.99, but doesn’t have any user reviews listed.
Why the Two Xbox Console Exclusive Games Are Shutting Down
I was really bummed to hear from the Doley Time Foundation that the games are getting taken down and the team is shutting down. Apparently, it all comes down to money – they’ve been spending more than they’ve been earning for a while now, and sadly, they just couldn’t keep it going anymore.
The studio announced the store is closing, explaining that several factors contributed to the decision – too many to list fully here. Essentially, the store wasn’t profitable enough to cover its operating costs, including maintaining the business and its websites.
The statement goes on to explain that Boss 101 was released in 2018, followed shortly by Zazmo. Despite eight years of effort, the cost of maintaining the main website has exceeded all revenue generated. They want to assure their supporters that this isn’t a reflection of their support, as everyone involved strongly believed in the games. They still feel confident in the quality of their games and their potential for future success, but unfortunately, a lack of time and funding led to their current situation.
Okay, so here’s the good news for fellow gamers! If you’re thinking of grabbing either of these games on Xbox One or Series X, you’ll be happy to know they don’t require an online connection. That means once you buy them, they’re yours to play forever, even after they’re taken off the store! It’s a shame they aren’t having a sale to go with the news, though – would’ve been a perfect time to pick them up!
