The color combinations for Shiny Pokemon can sometimes be underwhelming, lacking depth or being unappealing. However, the upcoming changes in Pokemon Go will significantly boost the chances of encountering Shiny versions of two specific Pokemon, making them well worth the pursuit. Niantic has announced a special event happening next month called Fossil Research Day. This event is brief, running only from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on August 2nd. Despite its brevity, players might still find it worth attempting to participate.
In this version, I’ve aimed to maintain the original meaning while using simpler and more natural language for easier understanding.
This time, the Pokemon with boosted Shiny encounter rates are Tyrunt and Amaura, two fossil Pokemon initially introduced in Pokemon X and Y. What makes these Shiny Pokemon stand out is their distinct color schemes. Tyrunt’s usual brown transforms to blue, while Amaura switches from light blue to bright white. These patterns remain largely the same for their evolved forms, although Shiny Tyrantrum has a slightly darker shade of blue compared to Shiny Tyrunt. Nevertheless, all four are remarkable and highly appreciated by Pokemon enthusiasts.

It’s disappointing that Tyrunt and Amaura won’t show up in the wild during this Pokemon Go event. However, there will be plenty of other Fossil Pokemon like Omanyte, Kabuto, Anorith, and more to discover instead. The good news is that Tyrunt and Amaura can still be obtained by completing event-themed Field Research tasks. Finishing these tasks will give players a chance to encounter both. While this might be frustrating, the higher chance of finding Shiny versions could encourage players to finish as many Field Research tasks as possible. Players can also boost their chances of encountering Tyrunt and Amaura by purchasing paid Timed Research for $1.99.
In Pokemon Go, players must evaluate if the Paid Research Ticket is worth its price tag of $1.99. While this cost is relatively low compared to other items in the Shop, it’s essential to remember that the ticket can only be utilized during Fossil Research Day hours. With various significant events on the horizon within the game, players may want to consider saving their money for purchases offering a longer duration of use. This discussion about in-game monetization often sparks controversy, and many find themselves questioning the value of certain purchases.
Among the scant summer events left on the Pokemon Go calendar, Fossil Research Day was one of them. Back in May, Niantic disclosed several key dates for this season, but held back on specifics. With the new season commencing on September 2nd, we can anticipate more details about upcoming events to be revealed over the coming weeks.
