Get ready for a new crime drama! Many fans of ‘Death in Paradise’ have been eagerly awaiting this one.
After successfully airing for two seasons internationally, the crime drama Saint-Pierre is coming to the UK, starring Joséphine Jobert in the lead role. While fans of her previous show, Death in Paradise, might notice some familiar elements, Jobert insists this new series has a distinct feel.
I was so fascinated to hear her talk about the script! She explained that when she first read it, it felt completely different from ‘Death in Paradise’. She sees ‘Death in Paradise’, and specifically the island of Saint Marie, as a character in its own right – almost as important as the people! And she felt the same way about Saint-Pierre, the island where this new show is set; it really has its own personality. But she emphasized that these two islands, while both incredibly vibrant, are distinctly different from each other.
“You have the Caribbean and the sun whereas Saint Pierre is very cold, the vibe is different.”
But where exactly is Saint-Pierre filmed? Read on to find out.
Where is Saint-Pierre filmed?

The TV series Saint-Pierre was filmed in the French islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, and also in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
I recently discovered Saint-Pierre, and it’s absolutely a real place! It’s located in the beautiful province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. What’s even more interesting is that it’s not just one island, but actually a little archipelago – a group of eight islands in total!
Despite being located in North America, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is a French territory with ties to the European Union. Its people are EU citizens, and they use the Euro as their official currency.
The series showcases the beauty of the island with filming locations all around it. You’ll frequently see shots of the harbor, and the production team also explored other areas, including the island known as l’île aux Marins.
I was so fascinated to hear Joséphine Jobert talk about filming in St. Pierre! She told Vacay.ca that even she, being French herself, didn’t know much about this beautiful little French territory. Apparently, life moves at a different pace there – the locals pretty much open their shops whenever they feel like it, which sounds wonderfully relaxed!
