Doctor Who fans have called for Alan Davies to be cast as the next Time Lord.
Since Ncuti Gatwa is leaving his role as the Doctor in 2025, the show hasn’t announced who will be taking over yet.
Fans are now hoping comedian and actor Alan Davies, famous for playing in the BBC’s Jonathan Creek, will take on the part.
On Tuesday, April 21st, the actor shared a photo of an old article from The Sun. The article, originally published in 2003, suggested that Davies was a likely candidate to play the Doctor when Russell T Davies brought the show back.
One fan commented: “Its 👏 not 👏 too 👏 late.”
One fan commented that it wasn’t too late for a change, and another enthusiastically suggested Alan would be a fantastic Doctor, saying there was no doubt about it.

Disney won’t be involved in future seasons of Doctor Who, but the show will continue on the BBC. Russell Davies, the showrunner, will be writing a Christmas special this year.
Many people have been wondering who will play the Sixteenth Doctor after Ncuti Gatwa finishes his run on the show.
Okay, so it was totally wild watching the last season end! I couldn’t believe it when the Doctor regenerated, but it wasn’t into another man – it was into Billie Piper, who used to play Rose! It was such a surprising and awesome moment, seeing her take on the role!

Some people thought the actress would become the Sixteenth Doctor, but others weren’t so sure, since she wasn’t officially listed as the Time Lord.
Both Davies and Piper have talked before about the actress coming back to Doctor Who, but they haven’t revealed any specifics about what her character will be doing.
Russell T Davies expressed his excitement about welcoming Billie Piper back to Doctor Who, saying it’s both a privilege and a joy. He hinted that the details of her return – how, why, and her role – will be revealed in future stories.
Piper explained she couldn’t pass up the chance to return to the TARDIS, but she’s keeping the details of her return – who, how, and why it’s happening – a secret for now.
Besides starring in Jonathan Creek, Davies is also a frequent panelist on the show QI.
Alan Davies has appeared in the show A Many Splintered Thing and hosted his own radio program, The Alan Davies Show, which aired in 1998.
Doctor Who will return this Christmas on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
