On Katie’s Instagram post from April 16th—a photo from their movie Happy Hours showing her embracing Joshua—fans commented that they wished the pair would confirm a relationship and that they “should be a couple.” Katie responded to both comments with a heart emoji.

The actress, known for Jack and Jill, noticed more than just critical comments. She was also pleased to see messages from fans excited about her and her co-star appearing together on screen again.

Joshua shared on Today, on March 10th, that they’ve been friends for a long time. He described how special it was to work with her again, and how much he appreciated her creating the opportunity for them to reconnect – calling the experience ‘magical’.

The movie features Joshua and Katie as a former teenage couple who consider getting back together when they meet again after many years. Joshua is particularly happy for fans to experience Katie’s creative vision for the film.

Joshua said Katie wrote, directed, and starred in a lovely three-part love story, and they filmed it last summer, which was a great experience.

He’s hoping the movie does well enough to become a series of three films, saying, “We’ll see if we get the opportunity to make the sequels.”
