As a huge fan, I’ve been loving all the behind-the-scenes looks IO Interactive has been giving us for 007 First Light – everything from the story to the music! But their newest trailer is what I was really waiting for. It’s a perfect, quick rundown of all the awesome gameplay we can expect. You absolutely have to check it out!
If you saw the First Light reveal during State of Play, you likely noticed how resourceful Bond is. Each location offers unique ways to gather intel – you can chat with people at bars or simply listen in on conversations. Then, you can decide how to proceed: sneak around undetected, use Bond’s charisma to walk right in, or combine both approaches.
You can also use gadgets to help you. Bond’s smartphone secretly fires tranquilizer darts to quickly subdue enemies, and his watch is a laser that can disable security cameras from a distance. If things get really bad, Bond will resort to using his firearms to escape, as per the ‘License to Kill’ protocol.
If you’re looking to improve your gear, visit Dr. Selena Tan in TAXIN. This is a key feature shown in the trailer: you can take on challenges with unique rules, like facing tough enemies while choosing to avoid using bullets. Winning these challenges earns you Intel, which you can use to buy new weapon upgrades and gadgets – including one that lets your laser strip away enemy armor and helmets. You can also unlock new outfits and compete with other players on leaderboards.
IO Interactive plans to add more challenges to the game in the future, with details coming later. 007 First Light will be available on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and on Nintendo Switch 2 this summer. If you pre-order now, you’ll receive the Deluxe Edition at no extra cost, which includes 24 hours of early access and other bonus content.
