Soul Eater Teases Big Announcement As Fans Wait For a Remake

Fans have long hoped for a new Soul Eater anime, and with good reason – the original series was incredibly popular. Now, it looks like those wishes might come true, as there are hints that a new project is on the way. To celebrate this potential return, let’s revisit what made Soul Eater so special and consider what the future could hold for its characters.

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Soul Eater recently posted an update – the first in over a year! Along with a new image of the moon from the anime, the account simply wrote, “Next Is…,” hinting at a future announcement. Soul Eater originally aired in 2008 and ran for 51 episodes. Soul Eater’s Anime History Explained

The original Soul Eater anime finished before the manga, so the anime’s ending differed from what the author, Atsushi Ohkubo, originally planned. The manga concluded in 2013, four years after the anime. Seeing other series like Hellsing and Fullmetal Alchemist get new anime adaptations to more closely follow their manga storylines, fans have hoped for a similar remake of Soul Eater, sometimes called Soul Eater: Brotherhood. Though this recent news might not be a full anime series, many anime fans are still hoping Soul Eater will make a return to television.

The popular anime Soul Eater was originally created by Studio BONES, a well-known animation house behind series like My Hero Academia, Bungo Stray Dogs, and Gachiakuta. Now that My Hero Academia has concluded, BONES is currently working on projects like Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Marriagetoxin. A second season of Gachiakuta is already planned, and fans are hoping for a third season of the My Hero Academia spin-off, Vigilantes. BONES is experienced at juggling multiple projects, making a Soul Eater remake a realistic possibility. While another studio could potentially take on the remake, fans will have to wait and see if their hopes come true.
