There’s no reason co-parenting can’t be smooth sailing.
Consider the example of Miranda Kerr, who has successfully co-parented her 15-year-old son, Flynn, with her ex-husband, Orlando Bloom, for more than a decade. What’s the key to their harmonious relationship when it comes to raising their child?
Miranda told TopMob News at an Earth Day event that prioritizing a child’s needs is key. She emphasized always asking if a decision truly benefits the child, explaining that she and her partner have followed this principle with their son, Flynn, from the beginning. This approach, she said, has helped them handle difficult situations and keep their child’s well-being as the top priority.
The supermodel, who shares four sons – Hart, 7, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 2 – with her husband Evan Spiegel, says the key to parenting is to always be compassionate.
She emphasized how crucial kindness is, stating that treating people with respect is the very least we should do. While she encourages going the extra mile, she believes kindness is a fundamental expectation in their home.
She shared that her children always make her cards, and they all made something for her this time. Even her youngest, who is two, did a painting that looks like a little picture frame. Her son Hart folded a sweet origami heart, and her other son, Myles, drew a beautiful butterfly for her.
The gift from her eldest, however, got delayed in transit.
She mentioned that Flynn still hadn’t finished making her birthday card. She added that her birthday was actually two days prior, but she wasn’t surprised, saying it was typical teenage behavior.
It was a late birthday treat – attending the Environmental Working Group’s Earth Day event! She was a speaker that evening, alongside well-known names like Mika Brzezinski, Erin Foster, and Hilary Swank.

She shared that her children always make her cards, which she loves. Each of her sons created something special – even her two-year-old painted a picture that looked like a frame. Her son Hart folded a sweet little heart out of origami, and her other son, Myles, drew a beautiful butterfly for her.

She mentioned that Flynn still hadn’t finished making her birthday card. She added with a laugh that it had been two days since her birthday, but that’s just typical teenage behavior.
She received a wonderful late birthday present: attending the Environmental Working Group’s Earth Day celebration! She was a speaker at the event, alongside well-known figures like Mika Brzezinski, Erin Foster, and Hilary Swank.

In fact, Miranda’s history with the environmental group is long.
She explained that her skincare line, Kora Organics, is EWG certified. From the very beginning, when she launched the line in 2006, it’s been certified organic – meaning it met high standards for clean ingredients long before ‘clean beauty’ became popular. She expressed her pride in being at the event and speaking as a keynote for EWG.

Despite ending their romantic relationship in 2023, the Grammy-winning musician and their Swedish-Syrian partner still work together to raise their children, Lucia and Renn.
Jwan described their relationship with their co-parent as truly wonderful in a September 2025 interview with Attitude. They’ve established a peaceful and stable co-parenting arrangement, living just ten minutes apart and communicating every other day, with a shared focus on their children’s well-being.
He described it as more than just an experience, calling it a truly wonderful way of life.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, parents to Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, prioritize their children’s well-being as they navigate co-parenting. Brian emphasizes that the focus should always be on how decisions impact the kids, stating that a breakup will affect them, and the only control parents have is how it affects them. He believes it’s crucial to choose your battles, recognizing that disagreements led to the separation in the first place. Getting along after separation isn’t the goal; effective co-parenting – a different dynamic entirely – is. Megan agrees, stressing the importance of never speaking negatively about the other parent, even subtly. She believes that accepting and loving their father is essential because he is a fundamental part of who their children are, both biologically and emotionally.

Josh Duhamel and Fergie are successfully co-parenting and maintaining a positive relationship. Duhamel recently shared on The Jess Cagle Show how supportive Fergie has been, even welcoming his wife, Audra Mari, into the family. He expressed relief and gratitude for her kindness, noting things could easily be much more difficult after their divorce was finalized in 2019, following a 2017 separation.
Duhamel said Fergie was genuinely happy for him and Audra when they announced they were expecting their son, Shepherd, who was born in January 2024. Shepherd joins big brother Axl, whom Duhamel shares with Fergie. Duhamel emphasized Fergie’s excitement for their growing family and praised her kind heart, stating she has nothing but love and support for Audra.

Irina Shayk, who has a daughter named Lea with Bradley Cooper, doesn’t really like the idea of ‘co-parenting.’ In a 2021 interview with ELLE, she explained that when she’s with her daughter, she’s fully a mother, and when Lea is with her dad, he’s fully her father. She believes parenting is simply parenting, regardless of the parents’ relationship status.
Irina and Bradley ended their four-year relationship in 2019, but they’ve remained friendly. Despite their busy lives, they continue to take family vacations, spend time together in New York, and support each other.
In a 2023 interview, Irina described Bradley as ‘the best father Lea and I could dream of,’ adding that their successful co-parenting relationship is a result of their conscious effort to make it work.

Finding a comfortable co-parenting routine takes time, as Mariah Carey knows well. Fortunately, she and Nick Cannon, parents to twins Moroccan and Monroe, seem to have achieved that. Cannon described their relationship as a strong friendship, emphasizing that Carey has been a valuable teacher to him, and that’s what family is all about. Carey herself is pleased with the progress they’ve made since their divorce in 2014. She prioritizes fairness for their children, understanding the challenges of growing up with divorced parents, ensuring the twins enjoy time with both of them. Beyond Moroccan and Monroe, Nick Cannon is also father to Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, Beautiful Zeppelin (with Abby De La Rosa), Golden “Sagon,” Powerful Queen, and Rise Messiah (with Brittany Bell), Legendary Love (with Bre Tiesi), Onyx Ice (with LaNisha Cole), and Halo Marie, as well as the late Zen (with Alyssa Scott).

It’s impossible to talk about amicable breakups without mentioning Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. The Oscar-winning actress and the Coldplay singer famously coined the term “consciously uncoupling” when they announced their separation in 2014.
On The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020, Gwyneth explained that prioritizing their children, Apple and Moses, was the most challenging part. “There are days when you really don’t want to be with the person you’re divorcing,” she said, “but if you’re committed to family dinner, you do it. You take a deep breath, make eye contact, remember your agreement, smile, hug, and even make a joke to reaffirm this new relationship you’re building.”
The Goop founder emphasized that she and Martin will always remain a family.
“That will always be the case,” she continued. “It’s not always perfect, we have good days and bad days, but we’re working towards the same goal of unity, love, and doing what’s best for the kids. Just because a relationship ends doesn’t mean you stop loving the qualities you once cherished in that person.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady’s journey since their divorce, and it’s really inspiring to see how they’re navigating co-parenting. Gisele recently shared with Robin Roberts that some days are definitely harder than others, but she focuses on what she can control. She’s raising two very clever kids, Benjamin and Vivian, and acknowledges they’ll test boundaries – which is totally normal! It’s all about finding a balance, and she feels lucky that her children get quality time with both her and Tom, experiencing different perspectives and learning from two different worlds. Tom echoes this sentiment, emphasizing that they’re both committed to raising all their children – including Jack, from a previous relationship – with kindness, empathy, and strong values. They both understand that today’s kids are growing up in a different world, but they’re determined to instill the right principles. It’s a beautiful example of putting the children first, even through a major life transition.

Ben Affleck, having played a superhero himself, recognizes one in his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. He considers her a “superhero mom” when it comes to raising their three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Affleck, who announced his divorce from Garner in 2015 and finalized it in 2018, told a news outlet that she’s an amazing mother and he feels lucky to co-parent with her, always prioritizing their children. Jennifer Lopez, who married Affleck in 2022 before filing for divorce in 2024, also praised Garner, describing her as an amazing co-parent and noting that she and Affleck work well together.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik separated in 2021, but they’ve successfully continued to co-parent their daughter, Khai. Zayn shared in 2023 on the Call Her Daddy podcast that they have a strong relationship focused on Khai’s well-being, and things are going well. Gigi told The Sunday Times that prioritizing a child’s happiness is key for parents in similar situations, as you’ll be connected to your co-parent for a long time. She added that she’s happy Khai has the opportunity to spend time with both of her parents.

Khloe Kardashian is committed to co-parenting with her ex, Tristan Thompson, despite past difficulties. She admits it’s challenging to be cordial with someone who hurt her, especially when their children, True and Tatum Thompson, are involved. In an interview with tmrw in January 2024, she explained she had to learn to manage her emotions and avoid impulsive reactions she might later regret. Ultimately, Khloe prioritizes her children having a strong relationship with their father. She believes if Tristan wants to be an active and involved parent—as he also is to his son Prince with Jordan Craig and son Theo with Maralee Nichols—she shouldn’t stand in the way.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always inspired by families who prioritize their children’s happiness, and Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are a fantastic example. Even though they separated back in 2013, they’ve created this really beautiful co-parenting dynamic. It’s not just about them, though – they’ve expanded their circle to include Katy Perry, Orlando’s current partner, and Evan Spiegel, my husband. I truly adore Katy, and seeing Orlando so happy brings me so much joy. Ultimately, Flynn’s wellbeing is what matters most, and I’m so thankful that everyone involved respects each other and works together. We all lead busy lives now – Orlando and Katy have little Daisy Dove, and Evan and I are blessed with Hart, Myles, and Pierre – but we always make an effort to come together for important occasions. It’s all about compromise and focusing on what’s best for the whole family, especially Flynn. That’s what really counts at the end of the day.

Kate Hudson believes it’s important to maintain good relationships with her exes, Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy, unlike letting a friendship fade away. She explained to The Sunday Times in 2022 that she and Chris simply check in with each other periodically, especially as he’s the father of her son Ryder.
She also praised Matt, Bingham’s father, as a “wonderful” co-parent. Kate believes that love doesn’t disappear just because a romantic relationship ends, and it’s possible to build a different kind of loving connection focused on their child.
Kate is also mom to Rani, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She feels her family setup, though unconventional, is incredibly strong. “The unit I’ve created with three children and three different fathers is seriously strong, and it’s ours,” she said.

It can be challenging for co-parents to get along, but Anna Faris says her relationship with her ex-husband Chris Pratt, his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, and their children has improved. Faris, who shares son Jack with Pratt, told People magazine in 2022 that they’re all becoming closer, and she really appreciates that. She feels both families are protective of each other and values their support.
Faris described Schwarzenegger, who also has children Lyla, Eloise, and Ford with Pratt, as “awesome” and praised her for being very organized and great with Jack. She’s happy with how the blended family is functioning now that time has passed.
“It feels much easier now that time has passed,” Faris explained. “It feels really good to not have that constant feeling of unpleasantness.” Faris is now married to Michael Barrett.

It’s helpful when co-parents agree, and Mel B says it wasn’t easy for her and Eddie Murphy to reach that point.
Mel B, of the Spice Girls, explained that past struggles with PTSD and controlling behavior made it difficult to build a strong relationship with Eddie Murphy. She said she gradually worked on improving things. However, she also noted that their friendship has actually grown stronger in recent years, especially now that their teenage daughter, Angel, spends time with Murphy and his family. Mel B praised Murphy as a dedicated father, pointing out he has ten children and they often spend holidays together.

Even though the TV show The O.C. was known for its drama, Rachel Bilson and her ex, Hayden Christensen, have a positive co-parenting relationship. Bilson told People magazine in 2024 that things are going well and their daughter, Briar Rose, is thriving with lots of support.
