Netflix is becoming a significant player in the world of anime. Beyond offering popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Death Note, and Attack on Titan, the platform is also producing its own original anime. For example, fans were excited to finally see the Sakamoto Days manga adapted for streaming. While there’s still plenty of Sakamoto Days content to come, Netflix is also bringing other popular anime series to its platform, helping them reach wider audiences.
The anime series Tougen Anki debuted on Netflix in 2025, featuring a 24-episode first season. The story centers around Shiki Ichinose and a world filled with supernatural creatures called “Onis.” Shiki gains a unique power called “Blood Eclipse Release,” which lets him create weapons from his own blood. The anime’s popularity has boosted sales of the original manga, created by Yura Urushibara, which now has over six million copies in circulation – an impressive number considering it began in 2020. With new chapters still being released, Tougen Anki’s success could continue to grow.
Tougen Anki Will Return
Like many popular action anime, Tougen Anki has captivated audiences with its exciting battles featuring the series’ powerful Oni characters. While other anime have concluded, Tougen Anki is still ongoing, and given its popularity, it’s likely we’ll see multiple seasons adapting the entire manga storyline.
Fans can expect the second season of Tougen Anki to arrive in October. The series is a modern take on the classic Japanese story of Momotaro, focusing on the conflict between those with demon blood and the descendants of Momotaro. The anime began airing in July and will continue with a new arc, the Nerima Arc, in October. A new trailer reveals new characters from both the Oni Agency and the Momotaro Agency, suggesting even more action-packed battles are coming. Given the positive response to the first season, it will be exciting to see if Tougen Anki can maintain its success with this next installment.
