Next month, HBO Max will release an updated version of House of the Dragon to prepare fans for the show’s third season, which premieres this summer.
HBO Max announced that a new version of House of the Dragon with American Sign Language will be available on May 29, 2026. This is part of HBO’s ongoing commitment to making its popular shows, like the Game of Thrones prequel, more accessible with on-screen ASL.
HBO is continuing to make its content more accessible by adding American Sign Language (ASL) versions of popular shows and movies. Following the success of ASL versions for titles like The Last of Us, The Pitt, IT: Welcome to Derry, and DTF St. Louis, ASL interpretations are now available for House of the Dragon. Plus, select Warner Bros. films, including Sinners and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, also offer ASL versions. HBO Max will add an ASL version of the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation (releasing in 2026) on May 1st.
Just before the third season arrives, HBO is releasing seasons 1 and 2 of House of the Dragon. While the exact date is still unknown, it might be announced at a panel during CCXP Mexico City on April 25th. HBO has confirmed that season 3 will premiere in June 2026.
The third season of House of the Dragon, with eight episodes, will further explore the devastating civil war and dragon combat between the supporters of Rhaenyra and Aegon. Despite this summer’s season, the popular series will continue. HBO has already renewed House of the Dragon for a fourth and final season, expected to premiere in 2028, with the announcement made in November 2025.
The American Sign Language interpretation for House of the Dragon is a first for the Game of Thrones universe since the season finale of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms aired on February 22nd. Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is currently being filmed. It’s unknown if ASL interpretations will be offered for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 or the original Game of Thrones series on HBO Max, although season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms does have audio descriptions available.
Beyond fresh takes on existing stories, the world of Game of Thrones continues to grow. Warner Bros. recently announced at CinemaCon that a movie about King Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros – currently called Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest – is now in the works. While the movie is confirmed, Warner Bros. hasn’t yet announced when it will be released.
Now that the first two seasons of House of the Dragon have American Sign Language (ASL) interpretations available on HBO Max, fans are wondering if season 3 will also have an ASL version. You can find all titles with ASL interpretations on HBO Max in the ASL Collection on the homepage, or by searching for “ASL” or “American Sign Language.”
