After a 16-year run, Kusanagi Mizuho’s popular manga series, Yona of the Dawn, finished on December 19th, 2025. The historical fantasy began in 2009 and quickly gained a following for its beautiful artwork, compelling story, and memorable characters. Its popularity increased even more in 2014 with the release of an anime adaptation. Fans had been hoping for a second season of the anime for over a decade, and it wasn’t until the manga concluded that a continuation was announced. While details about the new season are still forthcoming, a side story has been released, showing what happens with the characters after the manga’s emotional ending. Mizuho continues to engage with fans on X (formerly Twitter), regularly sharing updates and new artwork related to the series.
Kija and Yona have birthdays just a day apart – April 6th and 7th – but the artist shared celebratory artwork for both of them on April 22nd due to a busy schedule. The post quickly gained a lot of attention from fans, who love these characters! The artwork shows Kija and Yona in gentle colors and new outfits. As April comes to a close, the artist also teased Jae-Ha’s birthday, affectionately calling him the group’s older brother. Fans can look forward to another beautiful illustration around May 4th to celebrate his birthday.
Does Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Have a Release Date Yet?

Currently, a second season of the anime has been announced, but no visuals or trailers have been released yet. This news came from the Hana to Yume magazine, where the final chapter of the original story was published. While there haven’t been any further updates about the sequel, we anticipate more details will be revealed later this year. The first season is available to stream on Crunchyroll, and all 45 volumes of the manga are available for purchase, both physically and digitally, on Viz Media’s website.
Volume 47 of the series came out in Japan on February 20, 2026. The English version will be released at a later date, which will be announced soon. A special artbook with 64 pages (A5 size) was also released alongside Volume 47. The series will conclude with Volume 48, which will contain two chapters and an extra story, with the release date still to be confirmed.
Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Will Continue The Group’s Journey

The first season ended with Yona and her companions, Hak and Yoon, successfully finding all four Dragon Warriors. Despite this achievement, Yona isn’t sure what to do next, and Zeno challenges her to think about her future. As she deals with these difficult feelings, her friends remain steadfast in their support.
Season 2 follows her continued efforts to revitalize the declining Kouka Kingdom after her father’s rule. She and her companions will journey throughout the kingdom and beyond, exposing hidden corruption and crime in hopes of building a brighter future.
