Trading card games like Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering are consistently popular worldwide. While many established games continue to thrive, there’s always excitement for new ones. Now, U.S. fans can look forward to a new trading card game based on the classic 1980s brand, My Little Pony. Kayou’s My Little Pony Trading Card Game: Friendships Begin will launch in major stores across the U.S. on May 1st.
The popular franchise My Little Pony began captivating fans with its toys in 1982. After numerous TV shows and movies, the characters now have their own Trading Card Game (TCG). My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a new TCG created in partnership between Kayou and Hasbro. It was first released in China in April 2025, and will become available to U.S. fans on May 1st. Look for the beautifully designed cards at major stores like GameStop and Barnes & Noble.
My Little Pony TCG Delivers Fast-Paced Gameplay and Stunning Artwork for Fans of All Ages

Attendees of New York Comic Con in October were among the first to see the exciting new My Little Pony Trading Card Game. This was the game’s U.S. debut before its official release later this year. Now, card game fans across the country can enjoy this new addition to their collections. Beyond the beautiful new artwork of beloved characters like Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack, the game’s unique and engaging gameplay is sure to impress.
The My Little Pony TCG: Friendships Begin card game is made for fans of all ages, just like the popular show and characters. It’s a 2-player game that mixes strategy, imagination, and the theme of friendship. Players build 70-card decks and compete to tell a story first using different types of cards. Unlike many other trading card games focused on battling, this one is about completing a narrative. A typical game lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and is designed for players age 6 and up.

So, when the game first came out, there were six different starter decks you could grab, and each one was built around a different pony – Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, or Fluttershy. But that’s just the beginning! You can also buy booster packs to get even more cards and build out your stories. There are 68 different cards in total, and they come in different rarities, like Shining Ruby Rare and Shining Emerald Rare. Honestly, if you love collecting cards and that feeling when you pull something super rare, this TCG is totally for you!
The My Little Pony TCG: Friendships Begin trading card game is now available for purchase on the GameStop website. More major stores will begin selling it on Friday, May 1st. Each starter deck includes a complete, themed deck and 3 booster packs, and costs $19.99.
