As a moviegoer, I’ve watched superhero films explode in popularity, going from a small corner of the film world to a total box office juggernaut, especially thanks to Marvel. Both Marvel and DC are constantly trying to bring as many of their comic book characters to life on screen, and honestly, there are still so many powerful heroes we haven’t seen yet! They’re digging deep into decades of comics to find the next big thing, and it’s exciting to think about which characters will get their moment in the spotlight.
Both DC and Marvel comics are full of incredibly powerful heroes who haven’t made it to the big screen yet. Some have abilities that could easily defeat even the strongest characters we’ve seen in movies, and a few can even alter reality. While not every super-powered hero needs a movie, the following ones would make fantastic additions to a blockbuster film.
7) Plastic Man

Plastic Man isn’t powerful because of brute strength; his greatest ability is his incredible durability. He can stretch infinitely, letting him shapeshift and avoid most types of injury. This near-invulnerability makes him exceptionally powerful within the DC universe and a great fit for the new DC Universe (DCU). While previous attempts to create a live-action Plastic Man movie haven’t succeeded, hopefully he’ll get his moment in DC’s new franchise.
6) Nova

Nova is a popular choice among fans as a future Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s incredibly powerful thanks to the Nova Force, giving him a wide range of abilities that make him a strong attacker. While not the absolute strongest hero in the Marvel Universe, Nova is a skilled fighter and strategist with powers that reach cosmic levels. Currently, he hasn’t appeared in any MCU movies or shows, but rumors suggest Marvel is still considering adding him to the cast.
5) Hyperion

Hyperion is an incredibly strong member of the Avengers, despite often being overshadowed by other heroes. While he’s sometimes portrayed as a villain, there’s no question about his immense power. Often compared to Superman, Hyperion is a physical force to be reckoned with. Though he struggles against extremely powerful, cosmic threats, he remains remarkably strong and hasn’t appeared in any Marvel films yet.
4) Blue Marvel

Blue Marvel is frequently cited as one of Marvel’s strongest heroes outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many believe he’s incredibly powerful, possessing abilities like control over anti-matter energy, a brilliant mind, and immense strength. He’s consistently portrayed as a top-tier character in the Marvel Universe, and this high power level might be why he hasn’t appeared in a major MCU film yet.
3) Captain Atom

Captain Atom, a DC Comics hero, isn’t as powerful as he used to be, but he remains incredibly strong. He’s essentially a living quantum reactor, giving him the ability to control energy and matter at its most fundamental level. This allows him to manipulate time, project energy blasts, and makes him nearly indestructible. Because of his immense power, adapting Captain Atom for live-action is a significant challenge, likely explaining why it hasn’t been done yet.
2) Captain Universe

Captain Universe isn’t a single hero, but a title given to various characters in Marvel comics. Whoever holds the title gains incredible cosmic powers from something called the Uni-Power. The specific abilities vary, but Captain Universe usually has powers like altering reality, controlling matter, and understanding the universe on a grand scale. This makes them far more powerful than most other Marvel heroes, which may be why they haven’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet.
1) Spectre

The Spectre is an incredibly powerful hero in the DC Universe, but surprisingly hasn’t appeared in a live-action film yet. As a divine being representing the vengeance of The Presence – DC’s version of God – the Spectre can almost completely control reality, with power that reaches abstract, unimaginable levels. While he’s been featured in the TV show Arrow, no DC movie has tackled bringing this immensely powerful character to the big screen.
