Every Jaw Titan User in Attack on Titan, Ranked

Attack on Titan featured the idea of Titan shifters – people who could turn into powerful Titans whenever they wanted. This ability started with a woman named Ymir Fritz, and after she died, her powers were split into nine different Titans. Each Titan had its own special skills, and throughout the series, several characters gained and used the same Titan powers.

Of all the nine Titans, the Jaw Titan has been used by the most different people. Despite being one of the smaller Titans, it had a powerful and unique skill. Four people have wielded the Jaw Titan throughout the series, and while each one was memorable, some made a bigger impact than others.

4) Marcel Galliard

Marcel Galliard was the first character shown using the Jaw Titan. Although he doesn’t appear for long, he’s a memorable character because he feels so realistic and human. He understood the terrifying nature of the Titans and the burden of his task, and his reactions felt genuine and believable.

Marcel made sure Reiner, not his younger brother Porco, received the power of the Armored Titan, hoping Reiner would have a better life. He gave his life to save Reiner from Ymir, and in doing so, accidentally transferred his Titan power. While we didn’t see much of Marcel’s Jaw Titan, the few glimpses we got showed it was fast, had powerful jaws, and was incredibly sharp – traits his brother Porco would later fully demonstrate.

3) Porco Galliard

Porco was initially intended to receive the Armored Titan, as he excelled during training. However, Marcel wanted his younger brother to have a peaceful life, so Porco never got the chance. Later, when Ymir voluntarily relinquished the Jaw Titan, Porco took it, fulfilling a legacy connected to his brother.

Porco was a formidable fighter, incredibly quick and equipped with dangerous claws and teeth, making him a powerful Titan shifter. Like other Jaw Titans, he also had strong defenses. Ultimately, Porco came to terms with his brother’s choices and, mirroring his sacrifice, gave his life to protect Reiner and Falco.

2) Ymir

Ymir is a surprisingly overlooked Titan shifter in the series, despite her important connection to the central conflict between Marley and Paradis Island. She was originally exiled to Paradis after being falsely accused of leading a religious cult and starting a rebellion. For sixty years, she lived as a mindless Titan before gaining the power of the Jaw Titan by consuming a soldier named Marcel.

Ymir’s Jaw Titan wasn’t particularly impressive in terms of appearance or power – it was a fairly standard Titan design. Though it was likely the least powerful of all the Jaw Titans, what truly makes Ymir special isn’t her Titan itself, but her personal story and her choice to relinquish her abilities.

1) Falco Grice

I’ve always thought Falco was one of the genuinely kindest characters not just in Attack on Titan, but in anime overall. It’s heartbreaking to see how easily he’s used by adults like Eren, Reiner, and Zeke, all with their own agendas. But despite everything, his kindness shines through and really connects with viewers. I think that’s a big reason why Porco ultimately sacrificed himself for Falco, ensuring he became the last known Jaw Titan user and inheriting its incredibly unique and powerful ability.

Falco’s Jaw Titan was incredibly powerful, with the standard claws and strength, but he also unexpectedly grew wings, allowing him to fly. This ability proved vital during the final battle, helping the alliance stop Eren’s devastating attack. But what really makes Falco special as a Jaw Titan is his compassionate nature—a rare quality in the dark world of Attack on Titan that offered a glimmer of hope.
