The Forsytes season 2 first look teases future episodes after dramatic season 1 finale

Shortly after the successful premiere of the period drama The Forsytes on Channel 5 in the UK, a trailer for the show’s second season has been released.

In the trailer, Joshua Orpin’s character, Soames, comes up with a scheme to restore his family’s good name. Meanwhile, his wife, Irene, played by Millie Gibson, shares that she’s dedicated herself to making their marriage work, even if it means giving up her personal ambitions.

I was really excited when Soames declared a “new era” was beginning, and then we finally got to see Richard Rankin – you know, Jamie Fraser from Outlander – in his new role! It was a great reveal.

You can watch the trailer now, shortly after it was released following the season one finale on MASTERPIECE PBS in the US.

The new season will bring back familiar faces alongside Orpin and Gibson, including Danny Griffin as Jo Forsyte, Tuppence Middleton as Frances Forsyte, Eleanor Tomlinson as Louisa Byrne, Francesca Annis as Ann Forsyte, Stephen Moyer as Jolyon Forsyte Sr, and Jack Davenport as James Forsyte.

Joining Rankin in the second season are new cast members Sarah Alexander, known for her work on Art Detectives, and Nia Ashi, who appeared in Bob Marley: One Love.

In the season one finale, Jo ended his marriage with Frances to pursue a relationship with Louisa, who he recently learned is the mother of his twin children.

This new version of John Galsworthy’s The Forsyte Saga is proving to be a hit, with the show already commissioned for a third season before the second has even finished airing.

The adaptation comes from creator Debbie Horsfield, who was previously behind BBC hit Poldark.

Before the first season aired, she admitted to TopMob magazine that she was initially worried about playing someone else’s characters. However, she quickly realized she needed to approach the roles as if they were her own, truly understanding their motivations. She felt that approach worked well with her portrayal of Poldark.

The Forsytes season 2 is coming soon to 5, while season 1 is available to stream now.
