Get ready to feel a bit older: Final Fantasy X is turning 25 this summer!
The popular role-playing game, originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2001, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on July 19th. To build excitement, Square Enix has launched a new website.
As of today, the website focuses primarily on the Japanese market. It currently highlights new Final Fantasy X items like character plushies, an art book, and a beautiful vinyl record of the game’s classic soundtrack.
We’ll update this article if and when Square Enix confirms this stuff for the west.
We expect the publisher to share more details about the anniversary soon, but we don’t anticipate any major surprises.
It’s hard to imagine how Final Fantasy X could be improved beyond what’s already been done. The game and its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, have been playable on today’s consoles since the HD Remaster released for PlayStation 4 back in 2015, and a complete remake would be the only way to significantly change it.
