Following his captivating performance as Jimmy Olsen in James Gunn’s Superman, it appears that Skyler Gisondo‘s character may be getting a solo series, with whispers suggesting the presence of a formidable villain from the Flash’s rogue gallery. The buzz surrounding this project hints at Skyler reprising his DCU role as the renowned Daily Planet photojournalist in an anthology series, where he will likely confront a specific telepathic adversary connected to Barry Allen’s Scarlet Speedster.
Skyler Gisondo’s rumored anthology series to feature Gorilla Grodd
Based on reports from a well-known source in entertainment news, it’s expected that the popular Flash antagonist Gorilla Grodd might first appear in live action within the DC Universe, potentially through an upcoming series centered around Skyler Gisondo’s character, Jimmy Olsen.
In line with Jeff Sneider’s report, the show in question might involve the Superman companion character embarking on a journey to track down various DC villains during its duration. This is among the multiple spin-off concepts that DC Studios is rumored to be working on under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Additionally, as The Wall Street Journal suggests, another spin-off featuring Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific might also emerge soon.
In the most recent update of his newsletter, Sneider mentioned that the intelligent ape, known for its mind-controlling abilities, could potentially appear among the villains that Jimmy Olsen is said to chase in his upcoming series.
Significantly, Gorilla Grodd has previously appeared in the DC Universe, appearing briefly in the 2024 Creature Commandos. Though it appears that Grodd is involved in upcoming DCU productions, it looks like we’ll have to wait a while before seeing the Flash’s main adversary on the big screen.
In a previous update about Threads, director James Gunn mentioned that he has temporarily paused the introduction of the Flash character. He explained that the upcoming Clayface series featuring Tom Rhys Harries will be released early in the DC Universe timeline because “no movie will be given the green light before the script is completely ready, and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s script was prepared (Regarding the Flash, we’re taking a break in its development)”.
