As a huge fan of Daredevil: Born Again, I have to say season 2 has been absolutely wild! The show was already known for its action, but this season really kicked things up a notch. There have been so many twists and turns, it’s been genuinely thrilling and unpredictable. I was especially surprised by the changes they made to Karen Page’s character, and honestly, Vanessa Fisk’s death was a total shock – I did not see that coming for Kingpin!
Episode 6 of Daredevil: Born Again surprised viewers by bringing Jessica Jones back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a return that fans had anticipated for a while. However, her appearance created some challenges, including inconsistencies with her abilities and potentially bigger problems for the show’s overall storyline.
There Was No True Reason For Jessica Jones’ Appearance

Seeing Jessica Jones back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was definitely a highlight, which was likely the intention. However, even with how good season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has been, it’s hard to ignore that her appearance felt mostly like a treat for fans, and that brings up a bigger problem. While it was enjoyable to see her again, her appearance in the episode didn’t actually contribute to the story.
The character didn’t have much to do in that episode, simply because the storyline didn’t offer her a significant role. The show could have created an interesting story arc for her return, even a small one, but it didn’t happen. Instead, her appearance felt unnecessary and like a quick nod to fans. While many viewers were happy to see her, it ultimately felt like a missed opportunity and a step backwards for the character.
Daredevil Is Better Than Fan Service

The new season of Daredevil: Born Again isn’t the only Marvel project recently criticized for simply trying to please fans with familiar elements. In fact, audiences have been voicing this complaint more and more, especially after Avengers: Endgame, which marked the start of a somewhat unsteady period for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s especially disappointing to see a common fan complaint show up in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again because this show, and the Daredevil character in general within the MCU, is usually much better. Daredevil stands out from other MCU shows with its darker, more realistic take on heroes and villains, and has generally been a strong addition to the universe. That makes Jessica Jones’ recent appearance feel particularly underwhelming.
