Movie prop and collectible auctions are fantastic for finding unique and valuable items. However, some of the less well-known pieces can become surprisingly expensive, making them unaffordable for many collectors. This is particularly true for popular franchises like Star Wars, where rare items – such as Darth Vader action figures – can sell for over $100,000. Similar high prices are seen with collectibles from Star Trek, Marvel, DC Comics, and the James Bond film series.
A rare prop from the James Bond film Spectre is going up for auction at Bonhams. The item, a Scubacraft featured in Q’s workshop in the 2015 movie, will be auctioned in London from May 18th to 28th. Experts estimate it will sell for between $68,000 and $95,000.
Why Is the Scubacraft from the James Bond Movie Valuable?

The James Bond Scubacraft is being auctioned as part of a larger sale called Espionage: Fact and Fiction. According to Rebecca Anthony, head of sales, the auction explores the world of espionage, showcasing both real items like a WWII Enigma machine and props from the James Bond films. She expressed excitement about presenting this unique concept sale.
The James Bond Scubacraft SC3 is a unique, three-person vehicle that can travel both on land and underwater. It was the first design of its kind, and this particular model is the only one still around today. Its innovative features caught the eye of elite military groups like the U.K. Special Boat Service and DARPA, which ultimately led to its appearance in the James Bond film, Spectre.
The Scubacraft vehicle was featured during the filming of scenes in Q’s workshop at Pinewood Studios. It was prominently displayed within the lab setting. Interestingly, Eon Productions asked Robin Harris, who helped develop the Scubacraft, to appear in the film Spectre as a technician working in Q’s workshop.
The auction features a wide range of James Bond collectibles. Highlights include a Gyrojet rifle used as a prop in You Only Live Twice, estimated to sell for $2,000 to $3,325, and a British quad poster for Diamonds Are Forever by Robert E. McGinnis, valued between $1,065 and $1,595. Italian artwork from Thunderball is also up for grabs, with an estimated price range of $1,595 to $2,395.
