Okay, so here’s a sweet deal for all of us PC gamers! Sega is giving away one of their 2024 games for free for the next 72 hours. Normally it costs around $40 to buy, but if you have Amazon Prime, it’s totally free through Prime Gaming. The best part? You don’t just get to play it for free, you actually keep it! You need an active Prime subscription to grab the download, but once you have it, you don’t need to stay subscribed to keep playing. So, you could sign up for a month, snag the game, and then cancel if you want – pretty cool, right?
Amazon Prime members can get a free copy of the strategy game Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties and keep it until May 6th. In the game, you lead a faction in ancient Egypt during a turbulent period, using turn-based strategy and real-time battles to build your empire. It’s the 16th game in the popular Total War series, which began in 2000. While Pharaoh Dynasties is free for a limited time, two new Total War games – Medieval III and Warhammer 40,000 – are currently being developed.
Latest Game in Classic Sega Series
Okay, so the trailer you just saw is actually for Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties, not the original Total War: Pharaoh. See, the first one came out in 2023, and honestly, it wasn’t amazing. Reviews were pretty mixed – it sits at a 74 on Metacritic and only 64% of Steam players recommend it. But they really listened to feedback! This year, they released Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties, which is a big overhaul. It’s got a much larger map, more factions to play as, a cool new dynasty system, and a lot more polish overall. It’s doing way better – currently at an 83 on Metacritic and 80% positive on Steam. It’s not going to make it one of the best Total War games ever, but it’s a huge improvement. And the good news is, it’s this improved version that’s free with Prime Gaming right now.
Currently, this is the only Sega game available through Prime Gaming, but Sega and Prime Gaming frequently team up to offer free games throughout the year. If you’re hoping for a different Sega title, be sure to check back, as more are likely to be released before the year ends.
